It’s better than the T-90M in targeting, but has less armor against kinetic rounds, and because of the reverse speed which is the MAIN flaw of the 90M tank in War Thunder it will not outdo the 80BVM in any way.
It doesn’t even get UBH.
The T-90M is the worst top tier tank in the game, and I don’t think the T-90M Arena-M will be any better.
We should’ve got the T-90M2 (Ryvok 1) with around 15km/h reverse speed if I can recall, which is literally the T-90M Arena-M model with transmission upgrades (and a few other irrelevant things).
Would’ve made the tank playable in ground battles but we’re stuck with debatably junk for another 4 years.
Iirc T-90M2 hasn’t had a production or prototype unit made yet

Gaijin seems to be hesitant to add real improvements to top tier tanks (besides M829A3), so we got some copy paste stuff with +APS instead.

It’s the fact everybody is getting Abrams tanks which is making them more competitive in top tier ground forces, whilst Russia lowkey stuck with junky tanks that don’t suit War Thunder’s pvp gameplay and maps
BVM is far from being junky.
I don’t see what’s wrong with 90M Arena as it brings something new to the table. 90M2 can come at a later date, other nations haven’t got any significant improvements either.
I’m only excited to play the 90M Arena in sim battles where it’ll be safer against CAS spam and has better reaction speeds, otherwise it’s the same thing in GRB because it doesn’t have upgraded armor package although it should.
This isn’t the Arena-M but it proves the point of the Arena-M’s side skirts being equipped with UBH (in metal boxes too which looks better)

JP with TKX and Type 10 which are next gen
SWE with some leopards better than Germany’s lol
CN with Russian tanks but better
I only see Germany and Italy being a little down like Russia. I don’t think France or Israel are because their tanks are very good in general.
Basically the same tanks as before but with a marginally better round.
Haven’t seen devblogs about them yet.
I doubt Chinese tanks have it better than RU ones.
The Sepv3 has improved hull armor (or it should do in-game). It gets a better round against ERA, and so does the Sepv2, which means it’ll be a top tier beast because of the amount of T-80UE’s that play (they can be somewhat reliably penned through the upper frontplate now).
The Sepv3 also can now tank Kornets and Khrizantemas to the turret which it couldn’t do before.
TKX and Type 10 have been in the game for over 2 years lol. They’re just very good tanks on about half the maps and are probably the best tanks in a good player’s hands.
Chinese tanks have it better than the T-90M because of faster reload and more mobility whilst having relatively similar armor with just slightly larger weakspots. Armor in War Thunder kinda doesn’t matter if you can kill people faster and get out of bad situations faster.
But it doesn’t.
RU has better tanks than premium T-80U and latter one can be penned by M829A2 anyways.
APS will definitely help there, no question about it.
I thought some modernizations were being brought up.
In their current state they’re far from being the kings in GRB.
Comes down to preference, they have better mobility but lack in some other areas.
Out all of those, M1A2T is definitely the best one.

chinese tanks either have “good” reload (6.7sec vs 7sec) and quite bad mobility or the other way around, all of em can be lol penned by most tanks if you dont shoot the middle of the ufp. (this is excluding the M1A2T)
really in no way except mobility and a marginally better reload over t90
I’m pretty sure it does to the frontplate cause someone was arguing about it existing with screenshots yesterday.
I’m talking about the M1A2C which doesn’t have APS. It has better cheek armor.
A lot of people still play the T-80UE premiums and the M829A2 isn’t all that good against penning kontakt-5 + their front plates
Give the TKX, Type 10, or Type 90 to a good player, they’ll perform better in it than any other tank.
It’s enough to be good in War Thunder’s pvp tank spam gameplay. It’s literally an FPS shooter where you can one shot other players, but one of the players (the T-90M) has less angles to hit you from and is pretty much immobile in reverse.
