Why did the KV-1 armor become very strong?

Vfw, it translate error

4.7 KV1 vs 5.7

I tested the armor of the KV-1 ZIS-5 using the Hummel SAP and Pzgr-TS rounds in Protection Analysis.

Surprisingly, the penetration results keep changing constantly. Even when checking the exact same spot, areas that penetrated a few seconds earlier suddenly wouldn’t penetrate, or the opposite would happen and it would show as penetrating.

Also, even when I fully penetrated the turret armor, the crew and modules only turned yellow.
As many people have been pointing out for a long time, I think there are serious problems with the Volumetric armor.

Ik many people want to do away with volumetric entirely, but I’d at least like to see cross-sectional pen tested to possibly address the issue. That being the amount a shell overlaps with a plate would affect how much of the thickness of said plate is actually subtracted from the pen value. On-paper, this should help, even if we removed volumetric armor and only applied volumetric to shells.

Even if we just had the shell stop adding up all the paltes it hit and just took the thickes one into account it would be way better. The main issue of hitting pixel weskspots is still gone and now you dont get the oppostite of tanks suddenly having over 1m of armour because you hit a spot where the shell somehow contacts like 5 plates.
