Why did the fox and scimitar got nerfed?

Do you have the Scimitar manual?

I dont have a CVRT TM no. however a lot of the CVRW fox info in the TM is close enough. they will be using near enough the same parts as much as was possible. I do have the gear ratios for the TN15e transmission tho.

Ohh the gear ratios would be helpful working things out.

Ahh I’ve got that one too its for the diesel engine unfortunately

My bad for mixing up the transmission lettering

Ive just done a report for the fox to get its speed higher by the way. it could do 105kph instead of 99kph
https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/i/PQEiTGV54L6b

Wonder if they will accept the sources

im 99% sure this is the same brochure used to give fox its extra 5hp when it was first added

Interesting to be fair I’ve never heard any report saying the Jag engine was rated at that in its military use.
Unless maybe if the fox was fitted with the Mk.101B

the engine itself is a downrated version of the Jaguar XK engine found in the series 1 Jaguar E type which made 265 horsepower so that the engine is under substantially less stress. I doubt they would want to downrate the engine more at all otherwise they would more than likely gone for the 3.8L engine instead. no point having a bigger displacement to not make any power with it

It used entirely different pistons and sleeves it was that engine yes, other than that it was designed for a different role. Therefore it also ran at a lower compression ratio. It physically couldn’t make as much as the true XK unless it used some type of forced induction.

They wanted to move the torque curve lower down and give it a longer service life. So they changed many things about the engine. The original military one used dual Carbs IIRC.

The official dyno report and weights I managed to find was when it was installed on the CVR(T) chassis.

one twin choke carb built by Solex

Yes that’s right the SOLEX 48 NNIP it automatically adjusted for altitude.

The engine had a limited at 5000 RPM but made peak HP at 4500 (183 HP)

Can use and did use are two very different things. Sources will be welcome to show it did use powered traverse or if it or was tested (in which case it would be down to the developers to decide) and how fast that was.

Right now all evidence, including from the Fox manual, points towards a hand cranked mechanism and an appropriate speed for that has been used.

in british service it didnt use the powered traverse, I believe it was an export option only.

30deg/s for hand crank is just very very slow. I know gaijin wants every British vehicle nerfed but this is extreme

Reports are welcome to be submitted as suggestions with reasonable evidence to show that is the case.

To be completely fair all historical footage I’ve seen for the CVRT and Fox the turret traverse was really slow.

Doesn’t really matter to me that much as my playstyle with it doesn’t need me to spin the turret around at Mach Jesus.

Irl the light weight nature of the mechanism out weighed the fast turret travers regardless.

I have reported on the Armour and Engines of the CVR(T) chassis and has there been any news on that?

IMO 30 degrees is plenty, but the unrealistic armour and mobility penalties is not fair. As the Chassis can fundamentally not defeat the caliber it was specifically designed to counter. The gearing looks to be way incorrect due to the nature of the engine being governed to speed as well.

As far as I can see, this one is currently open:

And these two were closed:

https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/i/R6L92enAF1Mz

The open one hasn’t had any new developments to report on at the moment.

Not sure why the engine and transmission one was closed as it contains the actual installed engine weights and power output when mated to the CVR(T) chassis.

195 HP is the engines power figure when not installed and not using the CVR(T) air cleaner and exhaust manifold.

The 183 HP claim is from the engine brochure directly from Jaguar and specifically relates to the CVR(T) line.

The gearbox sheet included is unfortunately for the Diesel engine but it gives overall gear ratios for what would be the final drive as well.

The CVR(T) un-governed is capable of exceeding 60 MPH it was limited to 50 Via the engine to keep the speeds to a safe amount. This would mean the entire gear spread in game is incorrect and every gear should be wider.
