as some of you are fully aware off, alot of spits had clipped wings but none ingame have these or as a modification? which is strange because im pretty sure nearly all the later marks had clipped as default
and like… this changed the spitfires flight characteristics, pictured below is a mkvii
since 1941 the majority of spitfires were produced with the wing tips, as they were constructed separately tho… people added it because it looked prettier which is why the majority of those still flying have full wings now as they can be attached and detached
the reason for the clipping was to “improve combat characteristics” so like… i just think it be a cool modification or smth
yep. hence why i didnt realise there was one in game, 2 in other nations, 1 foldered and one is a premium that you cant obtain anymore. idk why they dont make it a modification all spits can have
I find it odd that although there are 4 clipped wing Spitfires not one of the LF variants is on that list as they all have standard tips.
Considering the clipped wing is mostly associated with the LF types built specifically for low altitude fighting the total ommission is somewhat surprising. It would open up a range of new Spitfire family types to add to the paucity that curently exist - only 31 so far, plus a mere 9 premiums - surely worth the investment.
The Xray labels the engine as the correct Merlin 66 but its 200hp short on power as it should have a sustained 1300hp+ according to the wartime test reports (and 1750hp boosted for 5min @5.5k ft)
Is that the base (i.e. no engine upgrades) figures? Do you know how the engine power mods factor in to comparing against real life figures? (Meaning, should the fully upgraded engine be equivalent of the real world figure, or should it be starting from the real life figures and the game mods add more?)
Ok i missed the mods that would boost the power, but that also demonstrates my point that either the vehicle or the description must be wrong as it can’t be both F and LF at the same time.
Obviously the description is wrong so its still a big XXX on Gaijjns part if they can’t manage the basics of matching vehicle name and title card with what the model actually depicts. If its an LF call it an LF! They managed it with Weizmans standard tlp LF.IXe.
