Why are some MBTs better than others based on gueswork?

Could we please stay on one topic and keep it civilised here ?
I created this topic to discuss about one of War Thunders balancing elements and not for you two to roast each ohter about stats of a game…

They added like 5 tons of premium air to the Arietes

For your interests, the ariete has only half the armor it should get. It should be able to resist 500+ KE with war kit installed.

This man just outright dislikes minor nations like gaijin, I think it is pointless to argue with him, since he only apperciates the big 4. However, one thing that France and Italy has are the players with skills that are miles above those who havent played them enough.

Because Gaijin copes so hard over the fact that IRL Ivan hardware is flaming garbage that in this game it’s always been the case that Russia has to be the best. It’s malicious incompetence purely to stroke their own collective ego.

Good to know that totol hates “minor” nations.
I personally don’t believe in minor nations, I play all 10 tech trees, and have all ten air trees with rank 8 unlocked.

@GNDM_Panzer
Weird of you to accuse Germany and Sweden of being hot garbage.
Russia’s not in War Thunder, the Soviet Union is, and has never been the best.

Oh, so you just happen to have an alternate account for no real discernible reason. (A reportable offense)
Your stats are below average for the LeClerc, as well.

What a crock.

Oh, someone’s hurt ? You realized you have no argument against me so now you attack me personally by pretending my stats are “below average” ?
Looks like you might want to check either what “average” means … or check if you haven’t hit your head against a wall, cause you’re not making sense either way.
And don’t even get me started on your stats, I’m dying of laughter just looking at them lmao.
All because you can’t fathom that the Devs are biased towards Russia ? How sad to get so worked up for so little.

It’s not just the tanks themselves, it’s the health of the entire line up.

Britain, Israel, Italy and France.

In my opinion some of the weaker ground nations currently.

There are 3 reasons for this

  1. outstanding issues with their MBTs such as
  • state of armour
  • shells
  • reload rates

Much of this is a balancing decision and not a historical decision and thus could be buffed if Gaijin wants

  1. the state of the entire TT (and this is the more important part)

For example, weaker or no IFVs for close In assault, weaker or maybe even non-existant top tier SPAA or maybe weaker CAS or CAP

  1. Map design, many of the maps favour CQB, even though many tanks are simply better suited for longer range fire.

It all adds up and affects the strength, performance and more importantly, enjoyment of the overall TT. I can’t speak of the other nations but I’ll give it brief breakdown on Britain and how this all applies, I think other nations will be very very similar.

  1. Challenger 2 has inherent weakness, some of those are accurate but it has poor performing shells (despite IRL evidence) and weaker armour than it should (might finally be being fixed, but we have dozens of report open for it) these issues could be addressed to mitigate some of those inherent weaknesses of the CR2. Additionally, the reload rates could be increased. The CR3 has a notably weaker fire rate than the CR2 for no good reason and both have a lower fire rate than the Abrams, again for now good reason (it’s all just Gaijin balancing)

I’m fine with a glass canon, but at least make us a decent glass canon

  1. overall TT health. Now Britain is not bad on the surface, with a lot of MBTs. But we completely lack any IFVs and our top tier SPAA lacks the SPAA SP cost, which is a notably disadvantage. Our CAS could probably also do with some buffs ( some of it is coming in June). Our 11.3 CAP is not overly strong either.

  2. map design. CR2s are meant for longer range fire. On those maps, it is strong, throw it into a city/CQB map, and it struggles…the poor mobility and lack of armour means you can be completely flanked very very early on. In these situations, an IFV might be better suited than a Chally 2

So all in all, it’s the small things that just… Add up, but all are theoretically fixable with relative ease. Just Gaijin doesn’t seem to want to of late.

The problem with the Leclerc is that Gaijin have modelled in accordance with the declassified British and Swedish trials; both of which said the Leclerc prototype they evaluated had terrible armour compared to the other competitors (the UK evaluation went so far as to say the turret had worse protection than the Chieftain Mk.10 they were looking to replace).

That would be a interesting one. But it would make somewhat sense aswell.
But even here they just could say that this source is not reliable enough and change some values to balance everything out.

It would also be profitable for them since a very small percentage of the playerbase is actively playing those nations at top tier at the moment anyways.
They could just fix some small problems or make some changes in favor of further br decompression by expanding the max br to 12.7.

it is still kinda confusing

Yeah, the minor nation fallacy drives me nuts

I often see the argument against adding lots to minor nations is that “less people play them”, or they are “less profitable for Gaijin”

But I just feel that is a catch 22. If they made these minor nations better, or at the very least, added what was needed and added vehicles on a more consistant basis. Then more people would naturally play them. I have seen WAY too many people say they no longer play “X” nation, because they just didnt have fun anymore. and that is just really really sad.

Im way too stubborn to play other nations than the one I want, but I do 100% get why people move to other nations, Britian sucked in 2023.

But yeah, they could so easily make all 10 nations equal and the game would be so much healthier for it. but for some reason, they just wont

I have given up on the Merkava 4 and the Challenger 3; I own both. I acquired the T-90M last week, and I can say it’s a good tank, but it’s not better than the Leopard 2A7V (which I don’t have).

I’m tired of going to Russian forums to talk about the Merkava 4, and it’s all in vain. The truth must be told; Gaijin only listens to review bombs, and when a nation starts making money, like the UK, which became popular, it still doesn’t make a difference.

Merkava Mk.4M - Техника в игре / Наземная техника - War Thunder — официальный форум

In the case of the Challengers 2 and 3, they remain lousy even after years; it took them years just to fix the wrong sound of the Chally 2. I have lost faith and no longer play with these tanks. It’s fun to play with the T-90M, but it’s not a wonder. I believe the best tank currently is the 2A7V, followed by the second Strv with its terrible thermals and low penetration.

Why do you think Gaijin only listens to Europe? Could it be the €?

I presume like the lower tiers Gaijin work on the stats for the individual vehicle for BR rather than relating it to the vehicles it may face in the game on a kind of pound for pound basis. That may sound like they should equate to the same thing but in lower BRs they don’t seem to.

For example the M26 or T20 is really no better than a Tiger E or Panther yet they are 6.3 or more rather than 6 BR where they should be. They relate to stats presumably not the enemy. Kind of gives a feeling that The USA are hard done by there. I dont play Top tier so I don’t know if that is how players feel with modern MBTs for their chosen nation.

Same with the BR changes, they relate to stats and it soon feels in the game like the Vehicle is now just out of place in relation to what it comes up against in game at its new BR

I understand we have an up tier but it seems like there is an expectation that top tier vehicles should be equal ,I mean if that is true is it a good thing or a bad thing? Is it right to expect equality in a BR or Tier with similar vehicles?
