Why are Heavy Tanks not allowed to actually function as HEAVY TANKS?

At low tiers heavy tanks kinda mid except kv 1. At higher ranks (6.7 is pain) they get really good. If u don’t wanna get penned, remember to angle ur armour of just chill behind a rock for half the game

Heavy’s are in a weird spot.

Rank 1-2: Most heavy’s have decent-good armor, but usually bad guns. Matilda, Churchill, KV-1, ARL, etc. KV-1E/B is easily the strongest heavy at this rank.
Rank 3: Heavy’s net gain on firepower, but they lose out on armor. Tiger tank for example is incredibly easy to kill by most tanks at its BR, but it’s shells are mini nukes. Sherman Jumbo is the only 5.0-5.7 BR heavy that still feels like a “heavy”.
Rank 4+: Any armor you have at this BR is pretty much worthless because of HEATFS, ATGMS, and Howitzer tanks. Light tanks can easily frontally pen an IS-3. 2SM or a M109 derps any American heavy with a shot to the turret roof or face. M-51 point and clicks anything at its BR.

Matilda is great - it’s just slow.

Churchill Mk I is trash. Moving it up to 3.3 killed it. It has no mobility to flank, and even in downtiers that 2-Pdr struggles to penetrate Sherman’s, T-34’s, and Panzer III M/N’s. Something like the Crusader Mk II or the Sentinel the 2-Pdr is fine because you have the mobility to flank and get side-shots.

I have to say the Conqueror has been my favourite heavy tank. With that add-on armour module it’s quite survivable.

That’s the British solid shot experience in general. The ARL-44 ACL-1s gun is absolutely miserable to use. You can center mass a T-34 and yellow the entire crew.

I will say that the Churchill NA75 is good though. It’s a Churchill 3, but equipped with the M4 Sherman’s gun with actual ballistic capped shells.
