Why am I as a naval player up-tiered 90% of my matches?

No matter which nation or BR, 2.3-5.3, I almost always seem to find myself at the bottom of the 1.0 BR spread. I am a competent player, but this is ridiculous. I have kept track, in one match out of 10 on average, I actually get to play at tier, or very slight up-tier, ex 3.3 against 3.7. Very rarely am I down-tiered. But when I use 2.3 vehicles, get dragged up to 3.3. Come out with a 3.3 lineup, get dragged up to 4.3. Come out with a 4.3 boat, like my new Pr206, and find myself matched against destroyers and cruisers. It really takes the fun out to be obliterated in seconds after spawning.

Those of us who get down tiered thank you for your sacrifice.

So make sure you have some DD’s in your lineup - there are plenty at 4.3, and there’s really no excuse for not having a lineup.

I always begin any naval match with a reserve. That way if it’s some garbage map like Andaman where north side gets into an enfilading fire from ‘go’ you don’t lose anything and you get to target practice. Once you’re in a fair fight (ie - you are not being hit by guided missiles from 13km) you can bring out your fun bot you really like.

That’s a very limiting lineup - strongly suggest you try adding a 4.3 DD or 2 and some other boats!

They were examples. I have numerous lineups. I even have fast boats in cruiser lineups, to take capture points. The point is no matter what lineup I have, I am 90% at the bottom BR. If I followed your suggestion, I would invariably be up-tiered to 5.3, facing Moffetts and cruisers. Just can’t catch a break.
When possible, in a 3.3 boat lineup, I add a R I 3.3 destroyer.

That’s what happens when your mode doesn’t have many real players and the ones that are there, are grinding the most popular BRs. The only advice I can give is to select all matchmaking regions to increase the potential player pool and pray. I don’t particularly like the “just build a lineup” argument. The smaller trees can’t even build a good lineup when something 0.3 BR lower than your max is utterly useless, especially in the ever-common uptiers.

Then the biggest issue is when you get to destroyer BRs. Due to the naval split causing destroyers to cost almost nothing to unlock and rank V coastals to cost as much as a battleship, you get a lot more destroyer players. This means less peer targets for your boats and frigates. In this way, if you want to grind your absurdly expensive boats - or even your 2.3s - you have to contend with a full team of destroyers who are specifically designed to counter you. To sink them, you need sustained fire. To sink you, they only need one good shot. You shouldn’t be forced to play a destroyer you’ve already spaded just to get no RP toward your coastal line if you don’t want to.
