I wonder about real life, visual and mainly gameplay affects on Russian main tank cannon, 2A46, variants.
There is quite a detailed list of mods such as 2A46M-1 (T-64/T-80 series), 2A46M (early T-72 modifications and T-90S), 2A46M-5 (later T-72/T-90 series), as well as more unique 2A46MS (T-72M2 Moderna) and 2A46M-4 (T-80U-E1) guns.
I remember reading on wikipedia that 2A46M was an adaptation to fire guided missiles, which seems to be true since T-72A looks to be the only Russian tank unable to fire them, but what about the rest of 2A46M mods? How do these modifications affect the gun irl, how to differ them visually and is there anything they affect in the game? All the listed specs seem to be the same for all of them, but maybe something unlisted is different, that you may know…

2A46M-1 is the same 2A46M, but adapted for use with the autoloader of the T-64/80
2A46M-5 is adapted to use more modern rounds (3BM60).
2A46M-4 is the same as the M-5 but for use on T-80 series. Basically it is to 2A46M-5 what 2A46M-1 is to 2A46M.
hm, if so, why T-80BVM has 2A46M-1 cannon if it needs to fire 3BM60? Is it gaijin’s mistake or 2A46M-1 is totally fine with firing those shells in reality, and 2A46M-4 is unnecessary?
