The M38 was an upgrade over the aging M8 greyhound (which we have in game). The Wolfhound had a crew of four and was armed with a 37mm gun in a rotating open-topped turret, with an ammunition load of 93 rounds. Its secondary armament consisted of two machine guns; one mounted co-axially with the main weapon, the other on an AA pintle mounting. It was powered by a Cadillac, eight-cylinder, water-cooled engine. Each side featured three large tires on symmetrically placed axles, with distinctive curved mudguards. The frontal glacis plate was sharply sloped to improve protection. A radio antenna was mounted on the front right of the glacis. One M38 was modified to take the turret from a Chaffee.

Personally this is what the US should have gotten instead of the Boarhound. The Boarhound was built for the British at British request, paid for by the British, all of the production vehicles were sent to the British, and it saw use by British forces (it just didn’t see combat).
With the Ram being added to the British tree in the last update, there is a remarkably slim chance of the Boarhound getting the same treatment. And hey, their recent BP reward of prior reward vehicles means they’re OK with not sticking to FOMO principles for low key/low tier vehicles.
I’d kill for one. That combination of armor, mobility and APHE out of the 6 pounder gun looks like great fun. It saddens me how many interesting vehicles are lost to the playerbase every year by being in one time events and then never released ever again.
There are still 2 potential Boarhounds that can be added.
- 37mm Prototype: I’d have been fine if the US got this one.
- Pilot #2 with 6-Pdr Mk III: Which should also go to Great Britain, as it was delivered for trials.
Here’s pilot #2 at Chertsey in Surrey.
Boarhound but worse fr (No APHE)
Mk III 6-Pdr could fire US APHE ammo. It’s the exact same gun that was fitted to the T7E2, as in literally the gun was taken from the T7E2.
I mean to be fair, you could say the same for the other british guns lmao
This is true. The British did historically use M61 APHE and it’s been reported to Gaijin, who’ve stated it’s a balance decision. The British also used US 57mm APHE (I forget the designation) though this was far more limited as they were producing their own ammo.
