Wheres the 40g of this missile?

Ignoring the fact that it is the worst aircraft in the game depending only on the amount of missiles.
When will they fix the R-73 and the FM, because I don’t believe that it has better control and gains speed in climb while I practically don’t gain speed in dive. COME ON, it hits almost the same G as Aim-9m with a much worse seeker

ima need the video replay to tell exactly whats happening

Calling the Su-27SM the worst aircraft ingame while the J-11A exists at the same BR while being worse in basically every way is just wild

Have you ever heard of Launch Parameters?

you’re so slow that the missile have to boost himself harder in order to create the lift needed to hit 40G.
not to forgot the close range distance of your launch which makes the missile to have a hard time.

so you’re complaint is currently weird.

the missile wont pull 40G right of the rails, it needs to be able to get to speed first, and considering it looks like it was turning the whole length of its flight it wouldnt have been able to reach full speed.
the G limits in the stat cards are kinda not useful numbers anyway

well, because missiles cant push anywhere close to 40g at those speeds, still it is pulling much better than the aim 9M you can even see it in your screenshots, at a moment it was pulling over 40º of AOA

Think that in cases like this you need to look at the aoa more than the g the missile is pulling, at 16g the r73 is at 40° whereas at 15.7 the aim9m is pulling 15.9°. You are also using the r73 in unsuitable launch condtions, firing it at around 220 km/h means the missile will have to gain speed before it can pull its full potential of g. And as shown in the screenshots it didnt have enough room to gain that speed for the propper turn.

Can someone please explain what these stas are for and how do they affect missile? Like this is AIM-7F it says Launch range 100km but evryone says its 30km max…so can someone explain this?

john warthunder said so

This is the range when launched from an altitude of 20km and a speed of 2M

TLDR:
-Missile can fly further at higher altitudes (where there is less air and thus less drag)
-Missile can fly further if the plane it gets launched from is already flying fast (it gets to a higher max speed using all of its booster).
-Missile can fly further if it doesn’t have to turn and lose speed.
-Missile can fly further if the target is below it as it doesn’t have to fight earths gravity.

This all results in a general expected range of about 1/3 (depends on the missile) of max range under adverse conditions.

Oke so plane from which missile is fired also affect overall stats, so these stats are like general stats in most ideal conditions? Nice thank you now it makes sense. Thanks for this info

Launch parameters my butt.
The missile is simply programmed with the feet.
Either it doesn’t have enough energy to turn or it goes into a spin because it has enough energy to turn.
Furthermore, the only ones that presented problems when fired at low speed were the ASRAAM and the SRAAM, not even the R-73 prototypes, which did not have TVC, since it had its own control surfaces and stabilizers.

My mistake was forgetting to mention the J-10A, although it has the advantage that, being Chinese, whatever they add to it will not be automatically crossed out, like the “RyZZki Vi4S”

To be fair, i think most people (like me) think of the cool and truly unique stuff like the JH-7 or J-10 instead of grinding China just to play wish dot com Su-27.

Not entirely true. The increasing air density slows down the missile more than gravity pulls down, to a degree.

well yes, at early parts of its flight at really high speeds (drag isn’t linear) but compared to slowly loosing speed to both trying to generate lift in low density air as well as the drag would at the end of flight affect it more (and likely the other way around at the start of flight).

This is why modern long range missiles loft, it saves energy at both start of flight and end of flight.
