going to say " we don’t believe the U.S could field this weapon on the LAV-AD, its chassis blah blah blah something they made up " Its like asking why none of the Hellfire Strykers are in-game yet, why the bradley doesn’t have its BUSK ERA etc. why the abrams doesn’t have its D.U Hull fixed turret ring, spall liners etc.

Abram’s has been proven through and through to have the turret ring weakspots against MBT caliber APFSDS, and not have a spall liner. As for everything else, it would be ridiculous for gaijin to say that, because that simply makes no sense.

You wouldn’t want it to, it’s mobility that’s, already not great, would be shrunken to almost nothing.

i like how people like you keep saying this , when its already been proven in bug reports and acknowledged by gaijin the Abrams has a spall liner, and the turret rang is too high and still missing armor , and should be volumetric.

It doesn’t matter what you think they’ve already said it in the bug reports lol.

This is just one.

I can show others on the other topics.

that isn’t a bug report is it? I don’t know why its hard for some of you to go to the bug report forums

FROM 10 MONTHS AGO

The insanity of you people who don’t know we’ve had Kevlar spall liners in our tanks since the 1960s Even the M60 tanks from the 1960s Have Kevlar Spall Liners LOL

Yeah “lol,” you think Kevlar is a “spall liner” XD

you are truly why im glad there is a screen cap button. Vehicle Armor (dupont.com)

Truly without people like you, i couldnt feel good about educating people on the internet esp. people like you

Wow, you’re great at reading, it says there at the bottom that it’s protective up until .50 caliber

A searing hot peice of metal going Mach 3.5 isn’t going to be stopped.

Spall liners made with Kevlar® help protect the crew from spall generated by threats like RPGs and EFPs as well as provide self-extinguishing properties in the event the inside of the vehicle becomes engulfed in flames due to a hit. Composites of Kevlar® and other materials are also used to help protect aircraft and helicopter crews from ballistic threats up to .50 caliber machine guns.

bro cooked you. honestly
you think the dart is still going mach 3.5 after penning some armor. I think it slows down rapidly + the spall liners are made to catch the spall not the projectile as their name imposes

That is good enough to stop most of the spallings

it literally captures rounds and fragmentation I’m sorry but kevlar is kind of both a “spall liner” and a light body armor. I mean theirs a reason why things like buckshot can be completely nullified by just a thin layer of it, or even some low energy fragmentation devices being stopped by it too (minus the concussion )

Spall liners arent meant to stop rounds just stop the pieces of metal from flying off the rod or the internal armor, thats why dense ceramics and metals are being used with space inbetween.

Also

Someone doesnt understand what APFSDS does. Its isnt some 1000F degree piece of metal its designed to just pierce through it may get a little hot from friction and the speed its going but it isnt designed or be specifically made to be heating up
Unless your talking about chemical munitions then your somewhat correct but they are becoming less useful in recent years unless used from the top or rear

It doesn’t have only 50mm of non-volumetric armor, though. It should be 250mm+ and angled, recessed into the vehicle more, and should be nearly impossible to hit (seriously, with NATO 120mm APFSDS you’ll need to aim within 15mm accuracy, and with Russian 125mm APFSDS it should be impossible for them to hit the turret ring in the vast majority of situations).

Gaijin’s literally acknowledged that the Abrams has a spall liner.

That’s literally how spall liners work. They don’t stop the super high velocity piece of metal, they stop the little tiny pieces of metal that break off when said super high velocity projectile punches through something.

You should choose your words more carefully.

I think this thread was supposed to be about the M-Shorad… anyways, I would love to have this in game between the LAV-AD and the ADATS. Any idea if it can carry more Hellfires?

well it can carry hellfires with more missiles in the hull, or aim-9x’s it has a ridiculous amount of different weaponry possible for it including Freakin’ lasers
