In the case of the T-64B and T-80B, it’s funny, because the T-64B in the game would actually be a T-64BV, while the T-80B in the game would be a T-80B (1982) upgraded to BV, not a factory-built T-80BV. It’s also curious that the T-80B has a higher Battle Rating (BR) than the T-64BV, knowing that the T-64BV should have better armor (in reality) than the T-80B with the 1982 upgrade.
Keep im nind that in the 1982 upgrade of the t80 they added a 30mm add-on and uses a higher hardness steel than on the t64 hull, so the protection was about the same, in game the ke protection is about the same but the t80b has much better protection againt heat probably because of the thicker layer of textolite, about the br, the t80b’s mobility is just much better than the t64b

Sadly we have a base model (to the left of what’s circled that was for a bug report).
Mk 5 did not have a laser rangefinder.
Mk 5 did not undergo the Totem Pole upgrade programme, as the point of the programme was to upgrade Mk 2, Mk 3 and Mk 3/3 to Mk 5 level. This included but was not limited to, extended range RMG sights, improved L60 engine with 750hp and new NBC system.
Totempole was in two parts
What you’re talking about is Z totempole, Bringing the Mk.2 and Mk.3 Chieftains up to Mk.5 standards. The Y totempole programme was FCS and ammunition focused and produced the /1 /2 /3 /4 subvariants.
You couldn’t be more wrong if you tried.
X changed the sights from the 4 dot reticle to the 9 dot reticle for the RMG
Y changed various smaller automotive systems, and prepped the tanks to be able to fit TLS later down the line, and other small changes
Z changed the engine and NBC system
These upgrades were not done in a specific order, hence you could have a Mk 2X, 2Y, 2Z, 2XY, 2XZ, 2YZ

Once a Mk 2, Mk 3 and Mk 3/3 had all 3 Totem Pole Upgrade programmes implemented they were renamed Mk 6, Mk 7 and Mk 8 respectively

After wards the Chieftains undergo the Firepower Control Retrofit Programe which is 4 phases
- /1 → TLS instalation
/2 → MRS installation and RMG delete
/3 → IFCS integration
/4 → existing racks modified to fit APFSDS, and sights/FCS modified as well for L23A1 ballistics
/4/1 → extra APFSDS racks (afaik this is the 4 rounds on the turret face/side of the loader)

At some point Chieftains that gone through the FCRP, Mk 5/4, 6/4, 7/4 and 8/4 get redesignated be all Mk 9s
Mk 9s upgraded with CPP (AKA ‘Stillbrew’) are called Mk 10s
Mk 10s upgraded with TOGS are called Mk 11
Yeah I got corrected on it sadly.
though then does that mean we could make a suggestion for the mk5/L or the Mk3/3?
Why bother? they will use the excuse of the LRF to increase the br, making the tank useless. Chieftans have largely been overteired for a long, long time now and nothing has changed. Adding a 9.0 chieftan with lrf would be largely irrelevant.
The answer is simple, we must construct additional chieftains.
