hey,
I play the game for a whole while now and started to look at the forum lately. And so I also became to see documents about certain vehicles in discussions and bug reports. I have one (probably stupid) question. Where do these people find these decades old documents and stuff? Like, is it just the biggest google search or is there a smarter way to find these things.
Im just generally wondering
Archives/Old dusty books/Tech Manuals
There are plenty of official archives you can request documents from, and many private collections or museums that you can visit to get such information.
So ive not heard ofsuch an archive. You probably need to pay a good bit to get these documents? Thanks for answer
When looking for documents my go-to tools are
Both are free, and allow searching document text for relevant key-words.
Just type in whatever you’re looking to find and it will direct you to books, documents, and other sources that contain the term.
For some you will need to pay, however i’m sure there are some that will give out info for free, you’ll just need to put in a request for it. Here is a link to the tank museum archives enquiry form, however i believe this is for visiting in person. Archive & Supporting Collection - The Tank Museum
Depending on what vehicles you’re looking for, there are certain sites that you have to search for to find most information.
Tank Encyclopedia can help a lot since in most of their articles they list the sources for the vehicle in specific.
Books. Actual books.
The Interwebs can be useful and convenient, but it is also full of BS.
Many military enthusiasts and historians have libraries of books they have acquired over the years and know where and how to access reference libraries and archives at museums and government agencies as mentioned above.
