We already have m26s vs pzh 2000s right now… Really doesn’t stack up when it comes to historical accuracy
Well, if Gaijin insists of SPGs to be used on the front line to be used as tank destroyers, that’s just what’s going to happen.
Of course they could make some changes to the gameplay for more realistic match ups.
But it doesn’t change the fact that players want to fight real tanks and not real tanks vs. something made up by someone’s fantasy.
Same with planes. War Thuner is a game about real vehicles.
Same as with the R2Y2s, they’ll be removed shortly after thai ground subtree. Maybe the F-16AJ will be replaced by XF-2A sometime in the future as well.
If you think war thunder is realistic you’re already lost lol so much in the game is guesswork. Adding realistic paper vehicles to fill in tech tree gaps wouldn’t make any difference.
Great because I don’t
F-16AJ will be replaced when a new gen 4 12.7 is added.
And Ho Ri will be replaced when a new 7.3 that fills its role is added.
“What about Type 99?” It doesn’t fire AP, and it’s one of a 3 tank lineup.
Type 99 has LRF/LWS + Thermals, if at least gaijin gave it the LRF it could be a viable replacement entirely for the Ho-Ri (My opinion)
Where you found all it on Type 99
Do you have proof it has these? From official sources and such?
Because I see nothing that resembles anything you’re talking about on the vehicle.
I get you want to have an alternative to the Ho-Ris, but muddying the waters with poor research really hurts to see.
I’d be glad to be proven wrong though.

The FCCS is said to enable automatic aiming, loading and firing of the main gun of Type 99 self-propelled howitzers at the touch of a button at the fire control centre.
Firing parameters that were previously communicated by voice over a wired telephone can now be transmitted instantaneously via a data link.
Obviously datalink related for SPH’s is too far ahead for WT, so essencially a LRF can work as a workaround for this
“It is said” just isn’t a good enough statement to make. Also, not once were a laser-rangefinder, a laser-warning system, and thermals ever mentioned. We need more proof.
I think we may have to come around the idea that Japan just won’t get a 1:1 replacement for the Ho-Ris that fit the same exact role and function. We could certainly find vehicles that would fit at the current BRs, such as the four-barreled Type 60 SPRG prototype, or at a slightly lower BR, the various light wheeled vehicles fielded by both Japan and Thailand that used recoilless rifles, possibly a pre-production Type 99, or maybe even the Ho-Ri II (but finding information on certain aspects is difficult/non-existent).
Well you do have weapons that quite literally never existed or vehicles with very questionable existances (ostwind ii and zerstorer 45, and Kh-38mt)
So there should be some ahistorical stuff. Unless we go 1:1 of real life which’ll lead very much into the classified stuff which as uk isnt good
Id trade both of these for the coelian
coelian removed for being fictional
proceeds to have 2 actually fictional tanks to replace it + a premium of it
absolute cinema
I think we may have to come around the idea that Japan just won’t get a 1:1 replacement for the Ho-Ris that fit the same exact role and function. We could certainly find vehicles that would fit at the current BRs, such as the four-barreled Type 60 SPRG prototype, or at a slightly lower BR, the various light wheeled vehicles fielded by both Japan and Thailand that used recoilless rifles, possibly a pre-production Type 99, or maybe even the Ho-Ri II (but finding information on certain aspects is difficult/non-existent).
The details of the Ho-Ri II are known down to the internals. That’s why we know that it would never be positioned in the 6.0-7.0 bracket, or even the 6.0-7.0 bracket. While it uses the same gun, the armor would be far worse than either the Ho-Ri Prototype or the Production. Instead of the 75 mm or 125 mm sloped hull, it would have the same flat 75 mm hull that the Chi-Ri has. Instead of the 150 mm or 225 mm casemate, it would be stuck with a 125 mm casemate. The only thing it has over them is the twin 20 mm on the rear of the tank, the slightly better mobility over the Prototype, and the stereoscopic rangefinder it has in its cupola. So, it would have better long-range performance due to the rangefinder, but its far worse armor would make it hard to sell as even a 6.3 tank where the Ho-Ri Prototype sits, and it’s not even a question is if it could replace the Ho-Ri Production – it can’t.
Sadly, neither Japan nor Thailand have a good 1:1 or 1:2 replacement for it. Even the hypothetical inclusion of a South Korean or SEA subtree wouldn’t provide a replacement. This is mostly down to the Ho-Ri Production being fiction and heavily armored tank destroyers, which the vehicle effectively despite it being fake, being rare and really only developed by the Big Three+France. Though, there are a number of vehicles that could be added in order to make the Ho-Ri Production superfluous, including:
- Japan
- Type 19 HSP
- M270
- Type 73 truck with:
- Type 64 MAT
- Type 64 (B) MAT
- Type 64 (C) MAT
- Type 60 APC with:
- Type 64 (B) MAT
- Type 64 (C) MAT
- Prototype w/ four launchers
- SS-4 w/ Type 64 MAT
- M24 w/ Type 64 MAT
- Thailand
- M113 APC w/ TAT-251
- V-150 w/ 90 mm Cockerill
- BTR-3E w/ 90LP
- M41A3 w/ MK4A1
- M966 truck w/ TOW
- M113A2 APC w/ TOW
- M37 truck w/ 20 mm M39A2
- Truck w/ 20 mm M61A1 Vulcan
- M163
In short, all Japan has left to provide that BR range is basically just crappy ATGM spam, in multiple flavors of either tracked APC or SPRG prototype, or slightly faster wheeled truck. The M24 retains its gun and would be different. The M270 would be a slightly more powerful Type 75 MSSR, while the Type 19 HSP might be in the 6.0-7.0 range due it being truck. Thailand would be the ones to provide any more variety to the range, with an assortment of Cockerill tanks (V-150, BTR-3E, M41A3), TOW carriers (M966, M113A2), 20 mm AA guns (M37, M61A1, M163), and the odd M113 with a 25 mm.
The removal of the Ho-Ri Production will come down to whenever Gaijin “feels like” the BR range wouldn’t be ruined by its removal.
I hope tho that the historically accurate Ho-ri could go well with the the 5.0 line-up.
I don’t see how it would be that low. I think it would be at either 5.7 or 6.0, using the ISU-122/S and the SU-100 as reference for it. The gun is roughly comparable to the former in penetration, though the fire rate would be about twice as fast with the sacrifice being a lower filler (tho both would one-shot anything anyway). Though compared to the latter, it’s inferior in every way aside from an almost meaningless difference in velocity. Its mobility would a bit better than the ISU-122/S, but a bit inferior to the SU-100, while its casemate would be stronger than the ISU-122/S and roughly equal to the SU-100 in effective thickness, but inferior in the potential to bounce shots that the slope of the SU-100 brings. It is roughly the same width and length as both the ISU-122/S and SU-100, but stands about a quarter of a meter over the former and a half a meter over the latter. It lacks a heavy machine gun that the ISU-122/S has – and which the SU-100 also lacks, but has a twin 20 mm on the back that would allow to it to act an impromptu anti-aircraft gun until the first strafe kills the entire gun crew and as rear defense, and will retain the hull gun that would allow it to more easily deal with lightly armored targets. I don’t see it replacing the 6.7 Ho-Ri Prototype due to the significantly stronger armor it has in comparison, or it sitting at 6.3 where something like the Jagdpanther is which is better in literally every way, aside from the few utilities that is afforded to the Ho-Ri II.
But telekinesis controlled AA-machine guns!
It won’t be the same, though Ho-Ri prototype started from 6.0.
This would be incredibly funny
