What's wrong with the servers this time?

I’m really, really, really, trying to get back into naval after the awful arcade changes. I still dislike realistic, but I’m trying.

What is killing my “enjoyment” is the horrific rubberbanding in matches. Sometimes it’s from the beginning of the match, but most times it’s after a few ships have been destroyed. I don’t show a change in ping or any packet loss, but ships visibly move forward and then snap back repeatedly.

Bug? Crap servers (the usual)? Something else?

The newest update broke like half the game. Missiles don’t work, aircafft cannons do no damage, desync is wild, ghos shells out the wazoo and more.

Just wait a week or so for them to fix it.

They forgot to spool up any more servers when they added a load of ships that people might actually want to play

honestly this is my main issue with naval

That’s a pretty ridiculous wait time.

It is also exceptional - I’m 12 time zones away from Europe, 16-19 from USA - so my evenings are really bad times for those 2 population groups, but I consider a 3-4 minute wait time to be long at all the NAB Br’s I play - 3.3-ish, 5.0-ish, and 6.3-7.7

What are your thoughts on the constant rubberbanding and disconnects, which are decidedly not exceptional?

I’m not getting them. I’m playing in NZ on NA and EU with normal ping of about 200, and apart from always losing “simultaneous” shots I don’t see any effect - I have no rubber-banding, and a pretty normal disconnect rate of maybe 2-3 per week.

I’ve experienced tanks rubber banding quite hard on ground realistic battles, it’s just the update that did this. Every match has tanks that jerk forward and back as they drive, yet they appear to be moving consistently. I guess it’s a de-sync issue where the server and your game are slightly off and keep on correcting.

The rubber banding servers have been an issue from what I can tell was last major update, I’ve just past it off as my poxy bloody stupid internet but if others are having the same then it’s probably the servers.

You’d think with all the high costing premiums sold & the NF focus of this update would see some technical updating of the servers for this mode let alone EC servers…

Now that it’s been mentioned I’m getting rubber banding - and yeah it’s bad - I’m pretty sure I wouldnt have noticed this before so maybe it’s just taken a long time to get here - most things do!!

Ugh, I thought it was just me because I’ve changed my graphics card (9070xt and with all the silly bells’n’whistles off I’m seeing 200+ FPS - but horrible rubberbanding).

It’s getting me even more wrecked than usual (considering I play the British tree, I’m pretty used to getting a raw deal when it comes to one-shot-kills or rounds that do sod all post-pen - like hitting an M60, going through it’s driver, ammo and setting fire to the engine and still get taken out in one shot without the M60 being killed…) since there’s been a bunch of times I certainly didn’t hear them then suddenly…TANK aimed and one shotted like they’ve had all the time in the world to watch me come right up but I’ve not seen or heard anything.

I would highly recommend turning on “join already active battles” with Naval. I personally never attempt to queue into Naval without it on. They increased the time you are able to join in progress battles in Naval a while ago too. And I actually like joining Naval battles late. You are able to avoid the dogpile at spawn, and are less likely to get focused fired spawning later and further behind the botes that are already pushing forward. I hardly ever have a Naval queue take longer than a couple/few minutes with the option turned on too.

Screenshot showing location of option, in case anyone needs it:

I have experienced rubber banding in probably 50% of the Naval battles I have tried. I have not been using a VPN or proxy, US servers, always have a ping lower than 100ms. The rubber banding does not come with/from increased ping (at least the game does not show any increase in ping when it happens.) I have only had a couple full disconnects since major update. And I can usually ALT+F4 asap, restart the game, and get the popup option to “rejoin battle” when I reload the game.

FWIW, it seems like I only experience the rubber banding when I am at flank speed/setting, and sometimes it is better, or goes away completely, when I lower the speed tiller. Completely stopping my bote seems to pretty much always stop it, but that is obviously risky, and it will usually start up again if I try to go back to flank speed.

As far as Ground/Air, I THINK I have only noticed some temporary/minor rubber banding in 1 or 2 ground battles. But nothing compared to how it has been in Naval Battles.

I’m experiencing it more in naval (with normal pings and no packet loss) the more ships that sink. I’ve noticed that if I see a lot of ships with the (new?) animation where the bow and stern are both sticking out of the water, it’s worse.

Normally not an issue anymore, but Caernarvron was squadding with me and 2 others, So it was trying to find a match for a squad of 4. When we dropped down to just 3 of us, it was near instant

Oooo yeah I also get much longer queues when trying to squad up. Even with just a 2 person squad, and then progressively worse with each extra squad mate. I think the matchmaker attempts to put you in a battle with at least one other squad that matches how many squad members you have, right? I remember reading something recently along those lines, but I am not 100% sure, and not sure if it was confirmed, or just anecdotal.

Im fairly certain it does as well, and its pretty clear why. We were steam rolling every match.

But with the exception of being limited to EU servers as trying to play NA has been a lag fest since the major update. (im EU based but usually play later in the evening BST, so NA servers are more populated when I normally play) I’ve not had an issue with getting it matches, even with join-in-progress off ever since the bot additions.

Ah, yeah I’ve been seeing others say that the EU servers have not been having issues like the NA servers have been having (maybe it was you who posted that info lol?). I have only been on NA servers, and I’m on the US West Coast fwiw.
