What's wrong with damage of the British ship gun (15-inch/42 BL)

I have the ship arkhangelsk and it has the worst guns out of any battleships I used, even outclassed by the Italian 320mm guns.

The guns feel like a solid shot despite 20kg of explosive filler, larger than many guns, yet the 410mm Japanese guns, US 305mm guns, do way more damage after penetrating.

In front, the gun is so bad that they yellow/orange cruiser damage modules, relying on ammo elevator hits and RNG for the fire to blow up the ammo.

Guys he is baaaaaaack !!!
On a more serious note i can’t help you with anything other than try to aim for the ammo elevator.

You really need to try harder with the bait.

Edit

Worse it’s ‘tiger tank 1 likes to bait replies’

IDK this guy so I’m just going to respond as if there was a person having a genuine issue.

The problem is just the pen. Arkhangelsk was the first time I used British 15" guns for any considerable length of time, and while the accuracy is now on-par with some of its competitors, the pen felt vastly inferior to the Italian and US guns of the same BR. Despite being a 15" projectile, the stock SAP was even worse than the high-velocity 12" SAP of the Stalingrad, and the AP isn’t much better. Even the improved Mk XVIIb shells felt insufficient at reasonable combat ranges.

I’m not familiar with the development history of these guns beyond WWI, but I’m inclined to believe there’s some good reason why the world’s foremost naval power opted to use the Mk I’s through both world wars all the way to Vanguard, which isn’t properly reflected in the game.

Stalingrads rounds are basically stalins napkin drawings hence why they are as ridiculous as they are

In WW1, it was not problematic as it is better than other guns at that era.
During treaty, Royal navy cannot make new battleship so 15’’ BL Mk1 was their only option.
On WW2, they did think of new 16’‘, which is better than 15’’ finally, but war broke out and Lion class has cancelled.

It was not Royal navy’s choice among lots of option but inevitable way they can have.
To compensate this, Royal navy set their combat doctrine to get close as possible, which showed by Hood during Denmark Strait

Consider that British battleships dominate war thunder naval with Japanese battleships just before Leviathan, it is too far combat range(in case of Atlantic theatre) and conquest-concentrated matchmaking that British battleships become terrible

Also they have a low muzzle velocity so they have good plunging ballistics if you can range your guns out far enough. It’s not a lot, but it’s enough to change the obliquity by a couple of degrees at longer ranges, which appears to be modeled at least someone correctly in the game.
