All rounds suck for that though, I’ve had L27A1 soak into the void of a tiger 1.
HESH for me usually works alright.

Yesterday in the chieftain I found out you can overpressure a marder A1 from the UFP with HESH, so that’s a pro i guess

A lot of the Chieftain’s issues could be solved if they actually gave them decent secondary arms. What the heck is 7.62mm doing on a damn MBT? Why are they like this? What went wrong? Actually, it’s funny, the Chieftain Mk.3/5 get a 12.7mm, but the Mk.10 only gets 7.62.
Tonight, I hit these two lights and both survived my L23 (that’s a whole other story):
And I couldn’t even finish them off with my machine guns.
The 12.7mm machine gun was a ranging gun.
It wasn’t designed to be firing at tanks.
And yes we tended to mount 7.62mm machine guns on the tanks rather than .50 cals.
After the MK5/4 i believe most if not every chieftain lost it’s 12.7 due to replacing it with a LRF.
Even Cr1s only have 7.62s
Even if you had the .50cal, it is also important to remember that the ammo of it is only HE so it cannot even takedown anything more than a bush

It’s one of the things Soviet tanks at that BR do right. I’ve killed Turms III, Tam, and even CV90105 with 14.5mm AP. Even the bog standard 12.7mm on the tech-tree T-62 come with API-T and AP-I(C) rounds (on roof mounted MG, at least).
I mean the chieftain was designed with firing at post 1km ranges, a HMG would of been relatively ineffective anyways for facing armour.
Hence the smaller 7.62mm MGs used for anti infantry and somewhat AA
Huh? 7.62 is a pretty standard caliber for secondary weapons. .30 is essentially 7.62 as well.
I’m comparing with other vehicles in this game at the BR of tanks like the Chieftain. They either get roof mounted 50 cal, or they come with 14.5mm coax. Yeah, it’s standard. Yeah, for how these tanks are used IRL it’s enough. But in this game, it puts you at a disadvantage.
Sure, but even the earlier Chieftains with .50’s aren’t proper .50’s. They don’t have AP ammo, they’re just range finding guns.

Would be nice if Gaijin ever action my ancient reports:
- Crusader II, The Saint, III, AA I, and AA II would get far better armour.
- Churchill I, AVRE, Gun Carrier 3in, III, and NA75 would also got a nice armour buff.
- Valentine IX, Cromwell I, and SARC VI (6-Pdr) would get a slight penetration buff.
- Like a dozen British vehicles will get rear smoke dischargers. Could work like ESS.
Talking 8+ years for some of these.
