Both AIM-120A and AIM-120B has been having the same performance for patches already, and I still don’t get what’s on Gaijin mind for them to keep two seperate models? All the jets that carried AIM-120A in the game are also capable of mounting AIM-120B anyways, so I would like to see AIM-120A removed entirely and having only AIM-120B from now on.
Sorry it’s more like I had OCD about this but you get the idea.
Because naming matters to some people even if there’s no meaningful differences. It’s why the Chinese R-77 is called RVV-AE. It’s why AIM-7M is called that even if it’s the same as AIM-7F. It’s why the PL-11 is called that even though it’s the same as Aspide, etc. etc.
Mainly to distinguish between older and newer AMRAAM operators, something older like an F-16C can use the Aim-120A while the Gripen C can use the Aim-120B (rb99)
It’s simply a renaming and none of the improvements of the B are in the game
Problem is the AIM-120A is rarely used among US and all its allies, they quickly went to AIM-120B and most allies afaik bought the AIM-120B right off the bat. It doesn’t make a lot of sense even history wise to use AIM-120A at all considering they perform the same in game.
All these jets are actually indicated by early/late 2000s standards and AIM-120B is widely available by that time. In fact, most of these jets carries the JDAM (In service since 1999), I wouldn’t put it past Gaijin not to replace their AIM-120A with AIM-120B (Which is in service since 1994)
