What's the point of the T30?

You get an ‘amazing’ tank with 155mm gun that takes forever to reload, that is slow in its top speed, equally unwieldly as the howitzer tanks, does not benefit from “no armor best armor” or spacious layout that puts engine in the front to absorb APHE. The particular layout (exposed hull) makes it particularly vulnerable to artillery tanks unlike say, IS-3 or IS-4M.

At this point, why not play something like the M109 or 2S19, or if you’re willing to take the T29 which will bring your BR to 7.0, meaning you face VIDAR, PZH 2000 etc.

Isnt T30 played with the T29E1 APHE shell that overmatches lot of the armor plates it meets at 6.7?

M109 does not have such advantage when your armor is paper thin, PzH 2000 in other hand has a rather larger ammo stowage, easy and obvious spot, VIdAr lacks versatile, a sniping vehicle at best and 2S19 is its own enemy, the layout of every module is the main reason this vehicle is so easy to destroy. T30 in other hand has actual armor, despite its reload time you can react a second shot and your gunner won’t be a swiss cheese by a minor issue.

It was amazing when there is no such thing as a 155mm howitzer and hull break is still a thing. Obviously it is mega ultra powercrept now but since it is a very rare and somewhat expensive tank, nobody cares.

I mean, the ability to go and punch a maus in the face with a big HE shell and not worry about being instantly melted by his autocannon SPAA/LT buddies is pretty nice. T30 turret can even be kinda trolly to the Coelian if it’s positioned carefully and the cupola is hidden or angled on the reverse slope of a hill.

The tank really doesn’t need any arbitrary buffs like reintroducing hull break (horrible).

No. The APHE is quite bad. It is played with HE.
