Whats the least overtiered prop for italy Rank 4?

the re2001 is also not as cool looking as the best italian fighter the g55 serie 0, which as we all know is the most important metric

On a serious note… I took a spin with it on the test drive and didn’t feel like it did anything decent, performance-wise. You say it’s the best italian fighter?

no not at all, ive barely touched any of the C.20_ type fighters myself so I wouldnt even know, i just like it

just use c205s3

81 kg per pod no? That’s not so much compared to most gunpods

Its not much, but the jet only weighs 3200kg. At 15min fuel you have a 33 deg/s instantaneous turn rate and 23.5 deg/s sustained. Adding the 160kg of gunpods will make those 27.5 and 22.5.

Note that the jet at min fuel, has too much of it, and you can dump it fast, but at equivalent fuels, without gun pods you can match or slightly overmatch the meteor mk3 in turning potential, with the gunpods you will start getting outturned… just an example.

You either choose more ammo and guns, or easier aiming and positioning with only the internal ones. Choosing the gunpods is not a bad decision per se, but I just prefer it without them

As someone who thoroughly enjoys Italian props, I can confidently say that none of them are truly bad. They just require more skill and finesse to use than most other aircraft at their tier.
The G.56 in particular is a good shout for one of the best superprops in the game period since it always has something against whatever it fights.
Almost everything faster loses in a turnfight, almost everything that turns better loses in an energy fight, and the few things that can contest in both regards are limited in other ways that can be taken advantage of. While it may not be the singular best at one thing, it’s more than good enough at everything to be strong. The Re.2005 VDM is in a similar position.

You are in the G.56, a 6.3 “superprop”

You are very lucky and get mostly downtiered, and you now face a Yak-3U, which sits at 5.7

What is your strategy to fight it, when the yak-3U out turns you, massively outclimbs you, out speeds you, and out rolls you at dogfighting speeds? The only thing you can hope for is a head-on, which won’t happen if the yak3u pilot doesn’t have a massive skill issue.

What about a P-51H? It isn’t as unbalanced as the yak-3u but it can almost match you in turning, your only advantage being unsustained turn while the P-51H has actually better sustained turn rate, but the P-51H also outclimbs you and outspeeds you.

While the Yak-3U does outclimb the G.56, it performs far worse at altitude, and most players won’t climb to above 3,500 m as a result. All Russian props aside from the I-225 become easy prey at any altitude above 4,000 m - the altitude the G.56 thrives at. Baiting them into a high altitude fight is a pretty surefire way to claim kills in my experience. And while head-ons are risky and not frequent, they are heavily in your favour when they do happen due to how fragile Russian props are.

The P-51H is tricky since it’s the inarguable best prop in the game, but I’ve found great success fighting them by dragging them into a low-speed turnfight. The P-51H’s agility primarily comes from its mid-to-high speed manoeuvrability, and proper rudder and flap usage with a sprinkle of luck will let you land some shots on them. Even glancing shots to their wings can completely compromise them in my experience.

Regardless of the decrease of altitude performance, the Yak-3U will still comfortably outclimb you and meet you at a higher altitude.

If you decide to really push above 6000m while sideclimbing, there’s no reason the yak-3u should follow you and fight you there unless you already have a big ticket advantage and time is running out.

The yak-3u is still fine absolutelly fine at 3000-4000m

The yak-3u is still fine absolutelly fine at 3000-4000m

I think you misunderstood what I was saying. It’s not that you should be fighting them at 4,000 metres, it’s that the playing field starts to shift in your favour at 4,000 meters and higher. That last part is the key.

The actual best tactic against a Yak-3U is to gang up on it, usually taking turns making passes with squadmates. As long as someone keeps the Yak busy, it’s relatively easy for someone else to swoop in and eliminate them. I was just approaching this from a pure 1v1 perspective - and in that perspective, your best tool is your advantage at higher altitudes.

My point being, the yak 3u easily controls the fight, needing teammates to fight a single yak3u is proof that the g55 is unbalanced against it
