I know its ANOTHER kugelblitz related post, but I’ve got to ask—how is the M53/59 still sitting at 6.3 when it’s running around with a belt of 91mm-penetrating HVAP
Meanwhile, the Kugelblitz is at 7.0 and only gets 77mm of pen with its best AP rounds???
The M53/59 can obliterate pretty much any light tank (even heavies and medium tanks from side)
The difference between the 2:
Praga is faster but lightly armored
Kugelblitz is slow, but has a better armor (its still a pz IV chassis at 7.0 with 30mm turret armor…)
If the 0.7 difference comes purely from not being able to 50.cal the kugelblitz it’s unfair. I’ve played both a bit and really think they should be at the same level.
Honestly curious if I’m missing something, or if this is just one of those weird balance gaps that hasn’t been looked at in a while. Id rather see them both at 6.7
Unfortunately, that is very possible. Due to its design, the oscillating turret has larger gaps between the moving parts of the turret
Good pilots with .50 cals can quickly make short work of the Kugelblitz by damaging the turret ring. Often enough, there is also damage to the crew, even though this is not possible according to damage analysis.
Kugel/Wirbel/Ostwind also got a nerf with one of the last patches. Usually the two crew inside the tank (driver and radio operator) were safe from overpressure. From rockets, shells, bomb exploding farther off.
Now they’re not different to the crew inside the open topped turret, op fully hits them. This greatly impairs survivability.
Regarding Kugel vs. Praga: Praga has decisevly more pen and speed. That weighs more than Panzer IV chassis at 7.0 (lol). There’s a reason why Pragas get spammed out as bnrrrrp mobiles, while you rarely see Kugels prowling for ground targets. Either Praga needs to get higher BRed than 7.0 to keep it fair. Or Kugel needs to be much lower BRed.
Wounder why Russia got this in the first place. Its a czech development using some left behind ger tech from late WW2. Czechs heavily dislike RU cause of that invasion and decades of occupation. There’s no tech connection to RU either…so shouldn’t have been part of the russian TT.
Gaijin handle wheeled vehicles terribly, you see, any wheeled vehicle takes 2 to 3 business days to get to the top speed in comparison to tracked counterparts, even worse in sand, snow or any other non-solid surface.
The M53/59 is indeed a very potent vehicle but I see the HVAP as a situational measure to combat ground vehicles, personally I never used the M53/59 against ground vehicles specifically, the gun handling is good enough to be one of the most effective USSR SPAAG has at the moment.
Off-topic
Then apparently the Czech were jumping out of joy when the Germans occupied their territory in the early days of the World War Two, what a logic. If we had this same discussion but the M53/59 were at the German tech tree someone would point this same argument “Look, Czech disliked Germans because of the occupation during the WW2.” Or something down this line.
Blame the Soviets not the Russian, and far from what I know the worst of them came from Georgia, and I’m sorry going in this path but I honestly couldn’t hold myself talking about this topic.
im sick and tired of getting bomber because people using AAs as TD (and the have the audacity to complain they are getting bombed when they spawn in a tank after getting killed)
ALL of my AAs have far more air than ground kill of the same reason.
Nope, we were not jumping out of joy…
However, there’s a major difference:
The german occupation happened over 80 years ago and since then, Germans have changed alot, like ALOT. They’re our good neighbours today and their mindset have shifted to strong pacifism. They’re humbled and very ashamed of what they’ve done back then…
On the other hand, russians haven’t changed a bit. They still are proud of what they did to us, saying they helped us, even saved us. The “man from Georgia” is still seen as one the greatest russians and new monuments are being raised in his honour…
tl;dr:
Germans have evolved from genocidal maniacs into rainbow sheep, while russians remained the same steppe horde like they’ve always been…
And that’s why most Czechs would rather see their vehicles in the German TT than in the russian one…
Yes but my reply didn’t communicate what I meant at all.
The following are the hoops I jumped through to reach the questionable answer. The idea is that the two vehicles are essentially harmless in the anti tank role compared to the actual tanks at their respective BRs.
Compare the Kubelblitz to the Panther II and Tiger 10.5cm all at 7.0. Before you tell me that this isn’t a reasonable comparison, remember that your original post is describing these vehicles in terms of mobility and armour penetration. Additionally neither Praga or the Kubelblitz have the mobility of say a Falcon or a Gepard (which make them effect light tanks).
The idea I failed to communicate in my reply is that the capability of the tanks mentioned in the topic is less to do with the vehicles performance and more to due with the creativity and opportunisticness of the drivers. Most of the anti aircraft vehicles are able to perform in an unorthodox anti tank meta, however the battle rating system that underpins war thunder is wholly unable to account for this playstyle.
Essentially, the BRs of SPAAs don’t really matter as if you are getting killed by them its more to do with mistakes made by the victim rather than any advantage offered by the SPAA
It’s a remnant of a double nerf that gaijin never changed back. It used to have 95mm pen on the hvap which was more than enough to deal with a lot of threats at it’s br even frontally (especially the 5.7 things it could face), They moved it up in br and then a bit later changed the pen on the shells.
