What's the deal with the -4 corsairs having absolutely horrible high speed pull in comparison to basically any other corsair in the game?

The difference is quite noticeable. -1A corsair can pull around 10g at 650kph, while the -4b struggles to pull enough to get to even 6g.

This is imho a result of the way too low BR of both.

A short reminder: Some years ago the F4U-4b was at 6.0 and the F4U-4 was 5.0, whilst they showed similar flight performance. We saw a downtier of the -4b based on RS 1.0 to 5.7 (whilst with RS 3.0 the plane should have gone back to 6.0) and the unchanged -4 went to 4.7 and then to 4.3.

The often mentioned nerf of the -4 version happened either with the downgrade to 4.3 or a little bit later. As long the plane was at 4.7 it was extremely strong and a kind of hidden champion in the US TT, you saw a lot of longtime players like dodgeness using it with great success.

The nerf you mentioned is imho a reaction of gaijin to protect other aircraft like their Yak-3 because the poor average results of most players required the downtier and the plane still outperformed the La-7 and the 109 G-6 at 4.7.

So whilst i fully agree that the -4 should be able to pull the same g-loads than the -4b this seems to be most realistic reasoning behind the situation you described.

I can pull 7-8 in the -4 and 10-11 in the -1.

But sure seems a bit odd. Truely a mystery.

The -4 and 4b pull the same g’s.

Could be weight difference? But since this game doesn’t display weights in the statcard for whatever reason, someone will need to datamine

Wiki says ~200 kg difference which definitely shouldn’t be enough of a difference to account for that much less G overload

I was also thinking about that but I doubt that 200kg would make a difference in the plane being able to pull that more Gs.

I bet -1 with bombs will still pull more Gs.

With two 1000lb bombs and full fuel the -1 was able to pull 9 Gs. Which is still more than the -4

is 7 gs at 800-ish kph really that bad?

Gaijin has been slowly adjusting the high speed pull of various aircraft, the -4s have been changed while the -1s have not.

With how many aircraft there are, doing them all at once wouldn’t be quite feasible. LaGG-3s and La-5s also had changes recently, with their elevator bug finally being fixed.

Well, there are development branches for that. You just push all the changes to one branch until it’s ready to be implemented.

What Gaijin does is start making changes, then forgets about doing the rest.

Seems to be the case.

That would take ages to be finished, all while aircraft are incorrectly modeled.

And?
So the solution is to nerf some aircraft while others stay superior?
All while hoping that one day Gaijin is going to implement more changes?

They literally stopped implementing realShatter when it comes to German cannons.

If they implemented it to the German 20mm FI-T it would probably become more deadly then the 20mm Mineshells.
So they simply didn’t bother because then they would have to make some more changes.
So easier for Gaijin to just have 20mm Mineshells do all the damage and ignore all other ammo types.

They did not. RealShatter barely impacted mineshells since it is a change to the fragment dispersion of which they always had very little.

  1. they wouldn’t which is accurate
  2. they DID and the FI-T shells became actually usable overnight instead of doing about as much as the IT shells they’re often packed alongside

That’s NOT realShatter damage.
A 12.7mm IAI literally deals more damage on the structure it hits:

30mm ADENs and DEFA cannons are using Mineshells, yet they have realShatter.

Without realShatter the round explodes into a sphere with many fragments:

With realShatter, few fragments are created and distributed more random in certain directions.

Which can even mean that they won’t deal any damage, since the few fragments created will simply not hit anything they can damage. Amazing mechanic:

Logically, realShatter shouldn’t be applied to Mineshells, because the game simply can not now that a shell is a MIneshell, just based on the weight and explosive stats.
Based on the construction, Mineshells will create practically hardly any relevant fragments, since the thin body gets completely pulverized by the huge explosive content, leaving only the fuze to fracture into some fragments.

But realShatter made regular explosive shells deal tons of structural damage, while also creating far reaching fargments, making Mineshells completely useless, since it’s the explosive (or incendiary) content which has the biggest impact on structural damage.

Pretty sure I saw it in a datamine that they had done german cannons, beats me why it was rolled back.

RealShatter has made damage unpredictable. Some of your shots will delete someone, others will just do nothing. They increased the damage in the past after huge complaints, but didn’t make it any more reliable.
