What would be the best 4.5 gen in the future?

Spice 250 on ef is not a thing at all, it’s just a what if, eurofighter ek could totally end up never integrating this armament.

And well it’s not like eurofighter consortium is known to show reasonnable possible configuration anyway, with some mockup showing armament blocking the gears because who cares about flying.

Either the Su-35S or one of the Typhoons.

Both have extreme radar coverage, both have BVRAAMs pushing over 200km of range, though the IRIS-Ts easily beat out the R-74M in seeker capability but is somewhat worse in range. The Su-35S dominates in subsonic flight performance, but supercruise on the Typhoon already does an amazing deal of work in Sim for fuel conservation.

If we assume that AMK is left out of the question. And let’s just be honest. The answer is Typhoon, the real question is which one.

In game that would be probably a tie between a late EFT and Rafale, depending on how seekers end up evolving

EFT has missile quantity, with Meteor
ASRAAM for medium range IR, IRIS-T for short range

Rafale also has Meteor, but tbh if ARH seeker don’t evolve compared to IIR ones, i can see MICA NG IR being much more of a nuisance at longer ranges, because of DL + dual boost. Downside is quantity though

In the long term missile quantity will end up with drag modelled so most planes will suffer and by a lot, french planes overall won’t, Rafale a bit but we know that it will still be m1.4 with 6 mica, so this advantage is temporary.

Missile quantity for the Eurofighter should be equal or slightly more than rafale, no? I’m sure there’s some players that will complement their long range Meteors with close range dual rack AIM-120B for closer ranged shots (yes, I know the ASRAAM will have been a thing at this point, point remains tho)

MICA NG IR will be annoying haha. But at least Eurofighters have MAWS.

That sort of thing will affect non delta canard planes more than stuff like Eurofighter/Rafale/Gripen, so I wouldn’t expect too much of a penalty on flight performance

So more nerf to US 4.5/4 gen jets :(

Should be the german one, but you know, unlike the AESA radar shaft, the AMK will be on all 3🙄

If any of them it’ll be the Italian one

Nah, LWR is the meta :P

Interestingly the Spanish also have the LWR fit;

What will be the effect in game?

Uh, what kind of ECRS it sports?
Assessing the yoinking potential here.
NVM, it’s mk.1, no yoinking potential spotted.

KF-21, no questions asked. It’s stealthy, fast, agile and can carry all the latest toys. Plus it has a really advanced EW suite with GaN AESA radar.

Hardly a 4.5 though.
More like a wish"dot"com 5 gen.

Currently no 4.5 gen has their RCS modeled and i don’t expect gaijin to model RCS of jets until 5th gen are added. Also do we have any info on how will it compare to EFT and rafale in terms of FM? Also is the radar fixed or gimbled?

The Block I and II Boramae is slated to be a “4.5+” generation aircraft. They’re also the versions ROK-AF will procure in the near future in relatively good numbers. To be honest, i never really liked this whole “muhh fighter generations” thing, because it doesn’t make much sense.

I’m pretty sure the flight performance will be somewhat worse than Rafale and Typhoon. In absolute terms, it will be slower and a bit heavier when loaded equally. The APY-016K (KF-21’s radar) does gimbal, providing for a 120’ degree coverage (same as the Su-35 or Su-30SM2).

The radar does looks like it is fixed and not gimbled

It is ±120 for SU-35 and SU-30SM2. Total scan area of Irbis-E(The radar SU-35 and SM2 use) is 240.
From what i could find KF-21 radar can only scan ±60 in horizontal so the total scan area would be 120
