What will happen to Sweden toptier air in the next update?

Do you think its fair, that the nations that got the swedish gripen as their best TT fighter, now gets more planes, and the country where their previous best plane is from doesnt get anything and gets completely ignored, and stomped by other nations in ARB in future. Im talking about Britain and Italy. Their best fighter is currently the Gripen, and so is Swedens, but that will change in a couple weeks when the long awaited Eurofighter will get added to live servers. Eurofighter is really advanced fighter ingame and irl, it carries currently 10 missiles ingame (6 fox 3 and 4 fox 2, or 4 fox3 and 6 fox 2), it has advanced Brimstone missiles, advanced avionics, MAW, LWR, inertial guidance pod with amazing zoom and will be the best fighter in game.

Its like that Sweden with their Gripens gave life and a chance to lighten up the worst tech trees ingame, and now it gets completely ignored snd forgotten. But ofc this is justified only because of gripens manueverability and amount of CM

On the other hand Sweden, will be most likely forgotten by Gaijin, Gripen was a really good plane and still is, but it excels the best in 1v1 dogfights because of its manueverability, and is its main feature. Gripen only carries 6 a2a missiles which is the least in toptier, including only 4 fox 3 and 2 fox2. Gripen C has the worst toptier radar, and its cas options are pretty limited in terms of quantity, only being able to carry 4 of its best weapons for ground. Gripen has a ton of countermrasures which come in handy a lot, but is way overkill, just like its manueverability in normal ARB, in arb dogfights rarely happen and therefore Gripens manueverability is overkill and somewhat useless. I wish for a toptier plane for sweden, which can compete with new 4.5 gen fighters and missile spam in toptier.

Please dont try to justify the Gripens current position because of its op manueverability, it lacks missiles, a faster engine and a radar thats comparable to other TT radars.

Solution is really simple: Give Sweden the Finnish f/a18c, which can carry more than 6 missiles, or add more advanced Gripen C or early Gripen E that can carry 8 missiles. Ik im copeing really hard but idk.

If nothing else. It’s time for Gripen Buffs.

  • BOL Overhaul
  • radar buffs (including A2G modes)
  • FM buffs
  • centre line A2G
  • MAWS

Would help keep Sweden going. But yes, time for Gripen E sooner rather than later.

I don’t think the gripen needs any further flight model buffs, its single handedly the best dogfighter at toptier and anymore buffs will be overkill

This feels like the apex predator update all over again. Except you don’t even get a mediocre solution like the JA37D. I feel like Swed top tier is now back to its state about 3-4 yrs ago: you get a ‘playable’ jet and a bunch of tough-minded players but the experience is no where close to being ‘enjoyable’.
They should have just added a gripen with the middle pylons, which would give it the ability to carry 3 additional ARH missiles on its belly (so 7 fox3 and 2 fox2). This wouldn’t make swed top tier life great (as the air frame is just slower than other supersonic ARH carriers), but it at least would make the gripen comparable to the EF or Rafale in terms of missile numbers.

i would say we should get electronic warfare, the swedes had jammers on the viggens, viggens also had a infared counter measure pod, so the gripen could get jammers to be able to get in a range where it can play out its own strenght

It should be about historical accuracy, as far as I am aware. It’s underperforming. But there are people more knowledgeable than me on its FM that I’ll leave to comment on exactly how.

But Gripen Vs Typhoon or Rafale is gunna be hard pressed and it already struggle Vs the F-15E in anything by knife fighting

Add a more advanced gripen C? We cant, Smin has stated that all “C” are just the C there will not be any more models of the C. So we have amalgamations of the C model and its different MS series. Add the Gripen E and now we have 2 jets left F18, and F-35, people see the tree has nothing really left that they cant just find on other trees and now sweden air is dead.

You can thank gaijin for adding the C and A at the same time and for the usual bug reporting happening where people didnt know what they were talking about so now sweden gets held back because of it.

Guess they will nail swdenes airs coffin and bury it, Swede air is actually dead then, Gripen E or f18 wont be added to the game in long time, atleast for sweden

Gripen C MS20 is found on every tree as all gripens carry GBU-39. SAAF is the only nation to not buy MS20 and yet they have it. Gripen NG would be DOA as not enough hardpoints or a new engine to fit with the current ARH meta even with Meteor, it would obly be better than the MS20 in radar and EWS. Gripen E is just a bigger NG as it has the new engine and more hardpoints as its the first MS21

In my opinion, in the future convert PS-05/A to PS-05/A Mk 4 radar, RB 98 (IRIS-T) to replace RB 74(M) and decompressed max BR to 14.3 on swedish Gripen C

And add the early 4th generation fighter aircraft from finnish after MiG-21Bis

Gripen E is the only gripen with additional Pylons. Adding a fake MS21 is on par with the current gripens. No Gripen C rn should be using PS0/5A when they have GBU-39 they should be using the MK.IV radar.

The finnish F/A-18 will probably and hopefully come together with the American one, sadly though not this update (only God knows why???). (And Swiss F/A-18).

Gaijin adding the Eurofighter now is in general not a good move, as the power creep has already been at a break-neck speed for the last 2 years, since the F-16 and MiG-29 were introduced.
The F/A-18 should have been introduced this update or earlier, not the Eurofighter. And the ARH-Missiles should have been introduced even later in 1 year or something like that.

WarThunder has to slow down in general, or else they won’t have any aircraft left in no time.

I don’t really mind that some nations don’t have a top tier, what I mind is that gaijin forces players to fight with the new top tier players that are far superior, this would be solved with a decompression, for example: if the gripen c is 13.7 the new top tier players should be 15.0 or the matchmaking should be a maximum of ±0.7 of your br, it doesn’t fix everything but it would be an improvement.
It’s just my opinion

I agree Sweden needs more top tier aircraft but stuff they could add now until the F/A-18 gets added is Finnish Mig 29 (was tested but never bought like the AHS and MI-28A), and the Norwegian F-16. these would fill out the tree a bit more.

They just need to rebuff the Gripen fm and it’ll be fine. If the Eurofighter and Rafale release anywhere near their day 3 dev FMs, then it would be consistent to place the Gripen at or near its live release state (maybe to the first couple rounds of nerfs).

Gripen getting nerfed almost every micropatch last spring based on reports that were pure conjecture can only be explained as a balance decision. MiG-29 and Su-27 should also receive buffs along the same logic. Release MiG-29 was a UFO but the current state is severely underwhelming.

Once next-gen IR missiles come I expect the Gripen C to receive IRIS-T or gaijin will bite the bullet with a JA37D type split. So it should remain competitive until Gripen E in about a year from now.

I wish Gaijin were more forthcoming about the changes they make and specifically why they were made. I personally dislike it when people are able to claim changes were made “because Russia suffers” or something like that.

Denmark also exists…been saying a DK and Nor line for the 5th air line. I mean us and the swedes didnt really get along for a while and it was a beheading game but its way more chilled out now. Besides we would add the bomber draken which would be the best thing to exist period

I’m totally agree, but it is a comon state, you’ll have to wait for F-18 like other country that can be filled with it.

Boring, I know.

As french main I’ll not complain, thx to belgian, but I understand the feeling.
