I noticed that the F8F seems to be the only aircraft I know of that is supercharged to have it where there is such an exceptional increase to horsepower as the plane gains speed I’ve had it where at 200-400kmh it starts out at 2300-2400 horsepower while reaching 600kmh that can go as high up as 2600 and sometimes 2800(!) horsepower at top ends. Which gives it that insane linear energy retention. What supercharger was used in the aircraft?
I think the F8F didn’t had a supercharger to improve it’s low altitude performance.
Just a simple single stage, two speed unit. What you’re witnessing is the very low altitude bias of the supercharger, which means it’s almost always below critical altitude.
