What made the Harrier the most feared 3.5 Gen Dogfighter and why wont Gaijin model it correctly?

Kinda funny how latest F-15 to get countermeausres was only 8 years off the earliest BOL on F-15 I have seen.

Do you know when tornado got BOL btw? Would be pretty funny if F-15 had it first when for some reason F-15 doesn’t have it ingame

Having 4 would just be fun and trolly.

4 aim9m with thousands of CMs.

Imagine F-15EX with 8x BOL rails and 360 ALE-47 countermeasures

Wow a plane from 2024 having comparable counter measures to a plane from the early 90s…

From a government that isn’t useless and flat broke lol.

The FA.2 would likely have been updated again if there was money to spend.

The Sea Harriers also had jammers

What about earlier F-15 that had it as far back as 2001, but with 4 rails like the 90’s jet you talk about. And F-14 too

Nah Counter measures are cool and good on every plane that has them.

I was just talking about the Harrier FA.2 in game as it’s loadout options are very limited in war thunder

Yeah that could definitely use them. Do you know if AV-8B could use BOL?

I can check but the source can not be used anyway.

It definitely had various systems tested on it, though I don’t know if it saw service.

The AECM IPT was tasked to evaluate two of these adaptations on the centerline of the AV-8B, the Faired Countermeasure Dispenser (FCMD) and the Mongoose II Pod (AN/ALE-56(V)).

The “MJU-52/B” which is later referenced in the document is is the type classification of the BOL-IR packets

Additionally the ALE-56(V) appears to use 4x ALE-40 / -45 / -47 compatible magazines, so could be fitted with the MJU-12, -13 or -17 magazines to permit the carriage of the M206, MJU-7 or MJU-10 families of countermeasure. so can carry up to 120 units, which is half that of the older ALE-37A/A.

ALE-47, nice

So theoretically, AV-8B can use Britecloud 218 countermeasures?

I’m not sure the CMDS onboard the AV-8B (ALR-67(V)2 & ALE-39/A) would be programed for it as it, as it’s the ALE-39A/A that added Jammer capability to the dispenser. It very well may have been modified at some point during it’s service, but based on the documentation I have access to I don’t think so.

I was thinking more along the lines of the MJU-49 and others.

Britecloud 218 might not need to be programmed by aircraft, just launched by dispenser. But not sure about that

But there is also GEN-X active decoys which can fire from ALE-39 and ALE-47. Though maybe these require the upgraded ALE-39

America has four, including two premium packs. I really don’t think the issue is minor/major nation, Gajin just simply hates the Harrier for some reason.

edit: America has 4, not 3.

There has been 0 plans to further change anything so I have heard.

Furthermore the ITR of the Harrier while using VIFF should be on par with the MIG-21

Yet it’s hopelessly out matched not due to the aircraft irl but gaijin refusal to care.
