What is up with the MGM-51 Shillelagh?

So this is the realistic projectile mechanic for the barrel-launch ATGM for MGM-51?

When leaving the cannon falls, but it seems that only a little.

The initial “dip” is ridiculous, almost making it firing hull down position impossible, so this is how it behaves? lmao

yes very realistik

Yeah they really screwed over ATGMs a while ago. Some have been fixed but but not all. I find it being an odd thing to have added from the beginning when it was clearly broken.

Gaijin thinks that the only ATGMs that dont drop out of the tube when fired are Kornets for some reason, or other high end laser beam riding ATGMs.

The dips that NATO ATGMs make are completely ahistorical and have been reported numerous times to no avail.

Kornets also dip, yknow?

No they don’t, but good try.

Sorry, I got confused between the Konkurs and Kornet

Pretty sure the Konkurs also drops very little compared to the likes of the MGM-51 or TOW.

The only similar drop in the Russian tree is the early gun launched ATGMs.

Mentioned by @Spr4yz, missile logic got a huge change, which you can check [here] around a year and few months ago, the list is obviously outdated at this point, I believe TOW and variants recieved a promissing changes, except by the BILL II and TOW-2B. The ‘dip’ in fact exist but considering the numerous footages rolling around showcasing the missile behavior in, I think, perfect conditions, which the game takes in account, the difference is huge.

Hopefully, along side with TOW variants, as well TOW-2B and BILL II and other missile with worse behavior at the moment recieve more updates, making missiles, again, usable. Because I believe, that those changes were made in favor of the community, regarding the performance of 9K121 Vikhr and 9M113 Konkurs.

idk about Konkurs (9M113) but the Shturm (9M114) drop as much as the rest do

That happens to drop for a reason.

What’s the reason then? I’m fairly certain (from m the videos I have seen of them firing IRL) that the missile does not dip. The BMP-1P has the 9M114 (Shturm) as well and it dips badly, even when firing straight (no need for it to dip)

The BMP-1P uses the 9M113, the 9M114 needs to align itself with the laser emission sight of the Shturm-S, which is below the launcher.

Barrel-launched 9M117M1 (found on the BMD-4M, for example) does, though.

As far as I remember, both the 9m113 and the Milan also fall in an exaggerated way, even though the missile tube is pointing upwards with respect to the horizon, and I think that the TOW also had something similar happen, and it also has the missile tube pointing slightly upwards to compensate for the fall.

Yep, as stated those are some of the outliers, being the 100mm and early 125mm gun launched ATGMs.
