I’m currently grinding out the Russian tech tree. I’ve already got the IS-6 for grinding out ground and I’m looking for a good premium plane to grind out the air tree. I’m considering buying the MiG-23ML during sales. Could someone give me a second opinion?

Su-30Mk2 might be the most OP aircraft in-game right now (at least tied with the chinese equivalent)
Mig-23ML just prints RP/SLs with Napalm, being one of the most OP base bombers for its BR, and then it is also one of the best, if not the best 11.7 in-game, just barely below it needing to be 12.0.

Yea that was one of the reasons i was considering the MiG. I flew the MLD in nuclear thunder (the April fools one) and I’ve kind of gotten a feel for how it flies. Probably gonna have to fly more intelligently in air RB
If its a downtier, not really.
If the goal is to research the USSR air tree in Air RB, the MiG-23ML is probably the best all-round answer among the options mentioned, provided you are comfortable with radar and missile management. The official Wiki lists it at 11.7 in RB and describes its strong engine, Sapphire-23ML radar/IRST and R-24R/T armament.
It is not a beginner-friendly dogfighter: variable-sweep energy management, limited close-range margin and uptiers punish poor positioning.
If the main goal is Ground RB CAS, the Su-25K is a different but more suitable choice, built around ordnance, survivability and R-60MK self-defence. If you mainly enjoy props, the Yak-3 (VK-107) is excellent at its rank, but it will research the tree more slowly than a high-rank premium.
My short answer: MiG-23ML for a serious Air RB grind; Su-25K for CAS; Yak-3 VK-107 if you specifically enjoy props. Match the aircraft to your mode and playstyle rather than buying only because someone called it “the best.”

If you already have the basics of high tier, the Su-30 is the best choice, but by the time you get to top tier you very well might be sick of Flanker gameplay. 13.x ARB is an absolute chore as well due in no small parts to the premium Su-30s, could get even worse if Gaijin ever feel like adding one to the brit tree.
Don’t get baited by the whole OP reputation, if you have no clue what you’re doing, you’ll have a miserable experience.
The MiG-23 is probably the best choice if you don’t want to farm ground targets, as well as being unlikely to experience a significant change that could affect your experience, unless a major shift in the MM suddenly makes it face the early F-18s on the regular.
The Su-25K, and to some extent the Su-39 is definitely good as far as farm efficiency against ground target goes, as well as being a surprisingly capable dogfighter, especially since people around their BRs are complete degenerates that can barely fly.
The Su-39 is the “best” Su-25 by available weaponry relative to BR, with it’s only glaring downside being that it’s ugly as sin if that matters to you.
The Su-25K is more accessible by being lower BR, but it’s definitely less interesting weapon wise.

pl12s have greater acceleration and do pull when needed pl8s also have much better range but less pull and I say ARMS because RDXEagle may be trying to get the squardron T-80UK and because su30MKK gets unique uptions that makes it better but that doesn’t really matter for him because he wants Russian tree

r77s are mid in Bvr everyone whines about pl12 nerf but they are still doing fine r77s just wont hit in BVR it is a python3 with IRCCM I think

PL-12 is arguably worse than the AMRAAM. One of if not the worst top tier Fox-3s.
