I am only Italy enjoyer? The 12.7mms are to die from!

The 13 mm Type 2 is a license built MG 131.

On a side note, @karnitin75 where’s the vote for the 14.5 mm MG? In my opinion that’s the best in game as it provides the highest damage and by far the highest penetration with just overall very good ballistics and still good RPM.

Ho-103, IMO.

Lighter than Breda-SAFATs, feel way punchier than MG131s and M2/M3s. You usually get a lot more ammo for them than Berezins. 13.2mm Type 3s are on so few planes it’s hard to judge. I’ve heard Akan m/39s are very good but so are Ho-103s.

What’s the criteria though? In-game performance?

Half of them are aircraft MGs while others are MGs only used by ground vehicles. And with half I mean just the 14.5mm MG 😂

Personally I would also add the 15mm MG 151 to the list since it’s very similar to the 14.5mm and US 0.60cal.

Because im not allowed to edit the Vote yet… Not without closing the current one and creating a beand spanking new one,

Is it wrong? if it is please post the accurate photo so i can replace it, thank you!

Not wrong, just the only non-aircraft machine gun. Just thought it was funny.

Don’t think there’s any plane that uses the KPV.

Even after the nerfs, the Swedish 13.2mm is the best.

Considering this is under “Aircraft Discussion”, the 14.5mm entry is void as I can’t think of any planes that use it.

The 12.7mm Berezin air belt has 2x HEI and 2x API rounds, similiar RoF and velocity.

I think it’s the better gun simply because the two API rounds can set fires to fuel tanks that the 13.2mm won’t be able to hit.

This is my personal ranking for aircraft MG’s (thus excluding the 14.5, it was never used in air)

  1. Akan m/39 - good ballistics, larger caliber and explosive rounds, very effective overall
  2. Type 3 - all of the M2’s good points, but a little more punch due to 13.2mm caliber
  3. M2 Browning - good ballistics, mid/late war aircraft get flamethrower belts
  4. Ho-103 & Breda-SAFAT - weak ballistics but makes up for it with strong explosive rounds
  5. Berezin UB - good ballistics, okay damage like an M2 with less punch
  6. M3 Browning - better than the M2 on paper, but its the fact that they only appear in jet BR’s where autocannons have a more significant advantage in instantaneous damage
  7. MG-131 - they are total dogshit compared to every other air HMG in game lmfao. Poor ballistics and poor damage

I’d just like to clear up the the Type 3 is a 13.2.99 Hotchkiss and not a 13x64 it doesn’t share any mechanical similarities with the German MG131 13mm, the Type 3 is based off a Browning m2 design while the Type 2 is based off of the MG131

I think the Akan m/39 had the highest sheer rate of fire of any heavy MG, so by the metric of “poking holes in things per second”, it wins.

The german 13 mil used to be a god of prop RB dues to cracked filler in IAI, sad that those days are over lol.
The SAFAT took over that role in a fantastic way, if you’re good enough to use it ofc.

12.7 mm is .50 cal …just saying

.50 cal beats all that you linked by large margin ,especially with their Star Trek penetration values .
