What Indian Vehicles Should Be Added to War Thunder Next?

So, if India is staying in the British tech tree, what should come next?

A lot of the discussion around my previous post has been about India remaining within the British tree. So instead of debating that again, let’s look at the more practical question: how could India’s lineup be expanded within the British tree, and which Indian vehicles would actually be good additions?

Rather than listing every Indian vehicle ever made, I’ve picked a few that could fill gaps in the existing lineup, offer different gameplay, and give players more Indian vehicles to research.

My suggestions :

1. Zorawar

Suggested BR: 9.7–10.0
Role: Light Tank

The Zorawar is a modern Indian light tank developed specifically for difficult high-altitude terrain, giving it a very different design philosophy from the heavier MBTs already found in the British tree. Its relatively low weight and mobility could provide a useful light-tank option around the upper-mid ranks, where the lineup could benefit from another mobile vehicle. It would also add a modern Indian light tank to the tree and provide a different gameplay option from the heavier vehicles currently available.

2. WhAP 8×8

Suggested BR: 9.0–9.7
Role: IFV / Light Vehicle

The WhAP would add a fast wheeled Indian platform to the lineup, giving players a playstyle that differs from conventional tracked MBTs. Its combination of mobility, reconnaissance potential and weaponry could make it useful for capturing objectives, flanking and supporting heavier vehicles. It would also help give the Indian section more variety instead of relying primarily on tanks.

3. Arjun Mk1A

Suggested BR: 11.0–11.3
Role: Main Battle Tank

The Arjun Mk1A is one of India’s most significant indigenous MBTs and would be a natural high-tier addition. Its heavy design and Indian-developed systems would give players a different experience from the T-90-based vehicles already associated with India’s lineup. More importantly, it would provide an indigenous Indian MBT that could strengthen the upper ranks of the British tree without simply adding another copy of an existing vehicle.

4. HAL Prachand

Suggested BR: 11.7–12.0
Role: Attack Helicopter

The Prachand is an indigenous Indian light combat helicopter designed with high-altitude operations in mind. Its lightweight design and role would give the British helicopter lineup another type of attack platform rather than simply another conventional heavy attack helicopter. It would also provide a much-needed representation of India’s indigenous helicopter development.

5. Tejas Mk1

Suggested BR: 13.7–14.0
Role: Fighter

India’s operational indigenous light fighter, offering a compact delta-wing design and a different gameplay experience at the higher ranks. Some may call it a Mirage 2000 copy, but it isn’t the Tejas is an independently developed aircraft with its own design and systems. Its flight characteristics could still give British tree players a familiar Mirage like feel without simply adding another Mirage.

The Mk1A and Mk2 could also provide future upgrades as the tree expands.

Suggested BRs & Tech-Tree Placement

These are only rough suggested BRs, not claims about what Gaijin should necessarily assign. Actual BRs would depend on the vehicle’s in-game performance, available equipment and implementation.

I also wouldn’t suggest adding all of these at once. A few carefully selected vehicles could give the Indian section more variety without unnecessarily bloating the British tree.

Research Tree or Premium?

Personally, I’d strongly prefer these to be regular researchable vehicles rather than Premium, Event or Squadron vehicles.

India already has vehicles represented through different methods, such as the Vijayanta as a Premium and the T-90S Bhishma as a Squadron vehicle. I’d like future Indian additions to actually contribute to the main British research progression.

What do you think?

Which Indian vehicle should Gaijin add next, and what BR would you give it?

Are there any gaps in the British tree that an Indian vehicle could fill particularly well?

The Arjun is expected to come to war thunder this year (based on the 2026 decal).

I’m coping it comes with the Su30MKI to give the british tree a capable Multirole fighter that isnt limited by gimped weapons.

Zorawar would prolly give UK the biggest bang for the buck, but it wouldnt be 9.7 nor 10.0 depending on the config. Boxer MGS uses the same turret on worse platform so I doubt it would sit lower, moreso it seems Zorawar gets ATGMs (something akin to indian spikes) in some configs, so it would prolly sit higher.

Honestly, Arjun + Su-30MKI would be a pretty serious Indian addition to the British tree. And if Gaijin is already considering more Indian vehicles, there’s plenty of room to expand beyond just those two. 👀

Yeah, that’s fair. I used 9.7–10.0 as a rough starting point, but the exact BR would obviously depend on the configuration Gaijin implements. If the ATGM equipped variant makes it into the game, I could definitely see it sitting higher. Either way, I think Zorawar would be a great addition to the British TT and to the Indian lineup within it.

The biggest bang for the buck will be the Indian Rafale.

British ARB win rates will probably go to 80% if they had both the Typhoon Aesa and Rafale. (since france is mostly paired with the british).

But the forum will burn before British mains [(morvran)] will allow a rafale into their precious TT

Would it? precisely because UK already has typhoon they dont get as much from rafale. Zorawar, on the other hand, would prolly cover the mobility issue all british tanks seem to suffer from (bar aussie abrams tanks) by offering BR appropriate 105mm armed alternative.

arjun is coming thats confirmed.

If britain has to house the indian vehicles if prefer arjun, zorowar and the tejas as they are at least unique and not just a british or soviet vehicle with a lime green camo slapped onto it.

Also the HAL gnat. the folland gnat will already be a great plane, and india put a stupidly big engine into it, will be a blast to play
