Same as toptier, except slightly easier to kill
Not really an issue especially any tanks with AA machine guns. Otherwise, there are SPAA options that are effective depending on the country. Anything .50 cal or fast firing cannons will easily counter most low tier aircraft.
From my experience, lower tier CAS isn’t as bad as top tier (I haven’t played much, though) due to the fact that planes have to get closer to the battlefield and they can’t kill multiple vehicles at once (unless they’re all together). Because of this, tanks can fire with their guns at the planes, and maybe they can damage it. When it comes to bombers, although you might not be able to damage them with a tank, they’re usually slow and an ally fighter can kill them.
1.0 to 10.7. CAS isnt much of an issue bar the BRs where nations have weak/no SPAA, quite common about 6.0/7.0. Below 6.0/7.0 though, most tanks can provide meaningful self defence with roof MGs. Just gets trickier with jets, but the unguided weapons at the lower BRs forces aircraft to get up close and personal and so will be in range of anything and everyone.
At about 10.7 CAS and SPAA are fairly evenly matched, but past then, CAS takes over and begins to steam roll.
CAS at lower tiers is 10x more oppressive than top tier and its not even funny, i dont understand why peoppe mostly complain about top tier cas.
-
No radar spaa, and most players are godawful at spaa without lead indicator
-
More players have access to aircraft on average
-
CAP has to get within 1km to kill CAS, vs being able to shoot them down from 20km woth fox 3.
-
No nametags like arb means radars help a whole lot
I die to CAS more times in like 4-5 matches going back to play ww2 for fun than I do in like 50 matches of top tier.
True. One lil’ scratch and there goes that annoying TIS MA.
Gaijin has recognized the imbalance of CAS versus ground and is apparently doing something to address it. What that will be is anyone’s guess.
There’s some simple fixes that they can do immediately like not allowing enemy aircraft to spawn in behind spawn locations. Delay the time until players can spawn in CAS so we can actually get some time with strictly ground versus ground. Offer longer invulnerability in spawn locations.
We’ll see what they come up with.
Its an added crutch to prop the lame game up.
It is used as is artillery to try and make a lot of the rubbish they added to the tech trees merely to boast they have more vehicles than any other similar game have some relevance and be playable in the game.
Due to the very limited gameplay options and restrictions, due in some part to the complexity of actually programming of such gameplay, everything is boiled down to just shooting and blowing stuff up. So a very large number of vehicles are at a distinct disadvantage especially when going up against front line tanks, hence artillery and CAS to buff them up a playable level.
Also CAS is used in a large way to decrease match time, queue times are the holy grail to Gaijin, so using CAS and artillery drives people into the quick face to face close quarter matches that are over quickly and if you are not too annoyed and quit, back into the queue for another game.
