That’s what usually happens in this game. The Badger is designed to prioritize accuracy above all else, as it’s intended for combat in the flatlands of Africa, where it would be relatively easy to spot enemies at over 2000 meters. However, in the game, combat is almost always at less than 800 meters, where rate of fire has an advantage over accuracy. And on top of that, as I mentioned before, the Badger has exactly the same spread (or even more) than all the other autocannons in the game, meaning that in the few opportunities where you can fire at over 1000 meters, there are many times when the bullets miss their target.
Ive used it tk the point it took me twelve direct shots to a Turm3s ammunition when i had him.trapped, and it didn’t detonate.
Or about 15 shots to tbe side of a ITSVP leopard and it didn’t die.
I strongly suspect I’m not going to waste any SL on buying this once I unlock it.
tbh above 8.0 in the British tree is boring anyway.
8.3 Britain is amazing. Falcon never bores. 10.7 Britain is lovely, also. Some people really dig 8.7 and 9.0. 10.0 is fun if you have the FV4030.
The only legit claim to the tree being boring is the very top-tier, when it becomes Chally 2 spam. Partly because of the Desert Warrior letting us down. Hopefully more support vehicles are on the way.
Saying all that - no, you should not waste your time on Badger, since it is inferior to the likes of ZA-35, etc.
8.7 chieftains are wicked.
the 9.0 mk10 and soon to be 900 is decent alongside using the warrior.
the 9.3 lineup I quite enjoy with the khalid.
10.7 is a monster lineup TBH
I’m finishing off all the British Era 6 tanks, and the BR8.0 tanks aren’t bad at all. The Chieftain 3 and 5 work well, and the Olifant Mk1 also performs decently. The only one I found slightly inferior was the Rooikat 1D due to its low damage and long reload time. I also feel that the Chieftain Mk10 is missing the L23A1 ammo, and the Shot Kal Dalet is missing the M413, but overall, none of them are complete disasters (not even the Badger).
The biggest problem I’m seeing with the game, and what’s causing my deaths, is the small maps with too much cover. Lately, players tend to all rush to a single point, leaving me alone in a corner of the map and having to cover 40 different areas where an enemy could appear. Because of this, I often die due to a lack of area control.
Honestly, I dont find it to be very good or even fun vehicle :(
I mean it has plane tracker unlike Warriors so that is cool I guess?
I dunno I lost hope after they added Scimitar with its butchered driving model that STILL has some properties of wheeled vehicle (after turning it takes a sec to straighten nonexistent front wheels so it tend to turn more then you want). I had my hopes for Desert Warrior but after it received worse APFSDS on dev server and after I saw how slow it is while playing it I only ever play it as challenge.
As for Badger rate of fire, postpen damage and slow turret rotation speed really let it down, recently I played BTR-80A in Italian tree and it is so much better its not even funny…
I just generally tend to stay faitfull to OG Warrior and Fox (Falcon if I count SPAA too) if I want to play IFV/autocannon light tank in UK tree, as others are just not really that good…
But hey, French EBRC Jaguar will be coming next update with 40mm CTA cannon so it gives hope we may get Warrior CSP or Ajax in forseeable future
Getting a major overhaul this update
First time hearing about it, but if that is really case then that is some awesome news
Yeah, it is, still got some work needed, like the dual differential thing would be absolutely awesome for the Scimitar (among pretty much everything else in game) but it should actually possible to drive the scimitar now.
Exact changes:
- Scimitar:
- max brake force: 115 → 40 kN,
- neutral turning fixed,
- suspension changes
Master_Teaz shared this clip from the dev server:
All that may be true but I still find it rather boring. 8.0 is where I draw the line on all tech trees tbh after that I find the battles to be very boring and ending just far too quickly.
I do have all the tanks mentioned but I see little point in playing them given the nature of battles at the higher BR’s. I would play the Mk.3 and 5 Chieftains if they hadn’t over BR’ed and butchered them. There is so much wrong with both those tanks that I don’t know where to begin tbh.
In my opinion, the game itself ends in Br6.7-7.0, after that the game becomes chaotic matches where you depend on the randomness of the damage to be able to kill.
I 100% agree. My only reason for going to 7.7 and 8.0 is because of the Maus and the Fox :D
I am currently doing 4.7-5.7 US with a friend.
Back on topic though, The more I see and read on the subject of the Badger the more I am glad I haven’t bothered grinding for it ect :)
It really could just go to 8.7.
Gets access to APFSDS, gun depression and mobilty but sacrifices the amazing firerate of the BMP-2MD and even the already crappy firerate of the 25/30mm bushmasters.
Both have good thermals and I’d say the BMP-2D is fair at its current BR.
Coming to this after playing with the badger for a while. Still haven’t fully unlocked everything but found that once you get to unlock the APFSDS rounds those can do some decent damage to tanks (just don’t go for the front of most tanks… you’ll lose).
It’s turret turn rate is one thing that’s terrible but once you have the decent round it can take out bigger vehicles when played smart.
The other fun little feature that’s missed - Is has an optical tracking function for air… Yes against jets it’s not exactly fast enough to knock those out but against helis? Oh boy it can chew them out so I’ve gone back to unlock the MK266 HE rounds so I can carry a spare belt for anti-air duty. A good trick is to have a 5+ button mouse and assign the air lock to 4/5th button then it’s in a convenient place aid in showing those helis who’s boss.
TL;DR - Learn how to play the Badger once you’ve grinded to get the APFSDS rounds. It can surprise if played well.
The problem is that when the game wants to, the APDS-FS does almost no damage, and if you add that to the low rate of fire, it often makes the Badger extremely mediocre. This tank needs to have great accuracy and maps where that accuracy is useful.
Considering at the same BR we have the likes of the type 89 , type 87 RCV which while unstabilised is a monster still at the exact same BR and just a 0.3 above a plethora of faster, more agile wheeled vehicles with faster turrets, better guns OR faster fire rate guns which overhwelm the badger / other vehicles with relative ease.
It’s also pretty damn big
But as I mentioned before, on very large maps and with its true accuracy, the Badger would be the nightmare of other IFVs.
Eh depends type89 can just hurl an atgm at it.
Type 87 throws enough downrange its.not an issue.
