It’s 21 kilograms of TNT packed in a 72 kilogram slug. It was designed to defeat at least IS-3s. It blew the turret straight off a centurion and split a conqueror. By all means anything short of a heavy tank should be throughout annihilated if at least mission killed. It is the quintessential element of the vehicle which is on all other accounts mediocre to bad.
So why in gods name does it not do that.
You can see it very easily in the Protection Analysis. Don’t even need to go into a match, pick ANY vehicle you want and you’ll find a spot where it somehow damages NOTHING. Not the tracks, not the barrel, definitely not the ammo or crew.
This is an absolutely unacceptable state for any kind of ammunition but for the FV4005, with a reload of half a minute, it’s a killer. I’d rather play Russian Roulette with a semi-automatic handgun for 5 bucks than take any bet this vehicle can kill or even survive in a 1 to 1. In it’s current state i wouldn’t play it if it was featured in the WWI event.
It’s in a terrible state so please, for the love of god, fix something about. Give it a fake 10 second reload for all i care
Lol… after years of hesh being awful i made this thread back in 2023. it keeps getting bumped up and still hasn’t been fixed. Hesh was nerfed ~4 months before the is6 was released and hasn’t been functional since. (ironically, the is6 was the most dominant tank on release this game has ever seen and hesh should have been its counter).
Apparently this is a symptom of how the game handles HESH ammo. It checks for overpressure only if the plate it impacts is thin enough for the HE power to penetrate. If it’s too thick, the overpressure is disabled and it only generates (super weak) fragments from the armor.
This is obviously wrong. Overpressure should obviously be checked at all times if the round impacts close enough to a plate to be interacted with. Especially for huge HESH rounds like the 183mm or 165mm.
Gaijin won’t let that happen. They don’t make money off British stuff like they do with Ami, German, and Russian stuff. So enjoy your terrible vehicles that are way overtiered because British players are actually good at the game.
