If you’ve messed about with the killmessages and all that, delete the files you’ve tried to put in, and then reverify files in the launcher. (Edit - It appears that all the files for this will be in the lang folder in the game folder. Clear that out, then verify files and that should do something.)
Top right of the launcher window, click the spanner, in there ‘Check files’.
