Would be useful in sim/ground rb but i don’t think it has any use in air rb. I don’t remember seeing any player using targeting pod to lock air targets in both sim or rb (Though I would ask players next time I play sim. If many players do use it in sim then I can see the benefit)
I agree with that but I still don’t understand why would make it better then Italian fighter in game mode like air RB and air sim.
It makes it better because you know when a heli or Adats is looking at you, so you have more time to react. If you disagree with me that is fine, but objectively it is an advantage
Because air also includes Air rb and sim? I have told you that I agree with you that it would be better at ground RB. I Now I want to discuss how would it be better in the remaining two game modes which also is air related.
I don’t see you mention ground anywhere in your original comment which makes your comment vague and hence I assumed you meant all three game mode. Besides that, this is probably first discuss regarding US air in ground RB. Rest all of them is about air rb/sim which is the second reason why i assumed you meant Air rb/sim. Is it also my fault? Yes, While making this topic i should have mentioned Air rb/sim . Just mention the game mode you next time so that confusion like this don’t happen
Also if we are purely discussing about CAS then I don’t think British Eurofighter would be best in that in future as well
If laser ranging IRST systems in game produced a LWR alert it would also have air to air utility. Though right now you do need to hit it with a TGP or Laser guided system from the ground.
In the future Gaijin could implement a system where aircraft can guide in air-to-air weapons using laser guidance, and this is a feature for Rafale, F-35, and Russian aircraft (including the Su-57).
While not currently a mechanic in game;
Imagine a rafale with MICA IR. It has a roughly 40-50km range Laser range finder with its IRST. It’s capable of guiding its long range missiles. It shoots at you at over 40km. With MAW being pretty unreliable - especially in the 16v16 environment, it becomes likely that you get shot down by something you literally had no idea was in range and aiming at you.
At least with a LWR you should be alerted that you are being locked.
Works very well against the ADATS for example.
