What are your thoughts on the IRIAF F-14A?

Cant wait to see anothet Iranian aircrafts such as Mirage F1 and F5E.

The HESA Saeqeh is much more interesting then the F-5 tho let’s be fair, especially for gaijin given its indigenous

However an F-5E with R-60/R-60Ms or R-73s would be quite interesting

Clearly the Qaher-313 should be added next.

No copypasta or paper plane here. Its all fiberglass.

Do we have any performance information on the Fakour missiles?

Iran claims it is more maneuverable and we know for a fact it is longer ranged. What is more important is that it has a boost-sustain motor and the acceleration of the boost motor seems to be on par with the boost phase of the AIM-120A but twice as long. This missile will feel and appear more like a lower overload R-27ER. BVR at high alt against this thing is not feasible.

@PHUNNY We do. See my thread;

Is the Fakour kinematically superior to the AIM-54A/C and will it pull more relevant Gs?

Honestly, I don’t mind it.

I always thought the Iranian F-14 Tomcat would only come represented as a future unlockable 200 GE skin or something similar after Gaijin added the first U.S. F-14 Tomcat back in Update ‘Danger Zone’.

If the developers added it to the USSR tech tree with the MiG-29 and Su-27 they already have it would undoubtedly by far be the most controversial vehicle addition to the game, igniting pure chaos and drama within the War Thunder community and player base.

They quite literally dodged a bullet with this by adding it to the U.S. (regardless of current political situations, relations with Iran etc…) which is the right decision.

It’s great to see it finally coming to the game with its own unique missiles and not being a complete copy-paste of the F-14A Early we currently have.

Jesus imagine the collective death wail that would erupt from the american mains if the russians got an F-14 with better missiles than anything an american F-14 was fielded with.

F14 with r73 and r37m

I refuse to believe it is any more maneuverable than the AIM-54 is supposed to be. It uses the same aerodynamic surfaces, while being considerably heavier. I think its greater acceleration will give it better close in performance, by hitting peak G earlier.

I already agreed it will have better range than the AIM-54. It should still be essentially only a skillcheck missile as its still nearly 30 seconds of smokey burn time, and should be incorrectly limited to 17Gs, just as the AIM-54 is.

The AIM-54 is AoA limited at lower speeds due to stability. Difference in weight distribution could theoretically greatly enhance or degrade performance.

Does it have any premium bonus?

There is no argument to be made. This isnt world politics its a video game. They have added it to the US tech tree get over it. There is no reason to open a new thread about the Iran f-14. Why the community feels the need to try and argue over everything is just strange.

I really doubt it will come as premium vehicles, it’s something exclusive to lower BR event vehicle.

Yeah thats a fair point, im gonna get this tomcat just for the sake of it and see how it goes.

Can see a lot more people complaining about f14s after this!.

Though in fairness, personally id like to see a lot more of the post ww2, cold war stuff thats missing still. I feel like the player base or gaijin are pushing too much for advancement (not the f14 or f18)

But seen people in game and on other posts wanting su35s, f22s etc etc and its just madness.

Maybe i need a break 😂

I find the Iranian Event Tomcat to honestly be kinda humorous (and not really in a bad way)

I remember seeing discourse on whether or not it’d end up as a premium, and people dreading the possibility of a premium F-14. Of course now, it’s gonna be available to everyone, not just people with a deep enough wallet (and funnily enough it’ll technically be cheaper than a $75 premium).

My personal thoughts on this is that everyone kinda wins here (save for the people going up against the Tomcat). Prior Tomcat fans/collectors can be happy knowing that they now have a pretty large part of the F-14’s operational history, as well as being one step closer to completing the Tomcat collection. People who previously didn’t own a Tomcat but wanted it can now be happy since they’ll be able to easily acquire one. And for any players interested in Iranian vehicles or history, they’ll have some representation in-game.

It’s gonna be a win for a lot of people, though I do feel a bit sorry for those who’ll have to face entire lobbies just filled with F-14s (of all types frankly) on both sides lol

its gonna be like when the T2 came out xD

Annoying to see the US once again given another top tier aircraft when so many other nations are in much greater need. But to be expected for Gaijin’s golden child. In terms of aircraft that could be added for the US, it’s a pretty good choice. Shouldn’t be Russian really, Gaijin just needs to finally bring in the MiG-31 to end US BVR dominance at near-top tier.
The main problem is that US winrates are going to further tank, making US planes even more OP. 12.7 F-15, anyone?

Just give Iran it’s own country tech tree. This new event vehicle could be a starter early-access/beta like the other new countries that started with 1 or 2 vehicles, and then got full comprehensive tech tree. Adding the Islamic Republic camo and decal to USA is extra stupid. It’s like adding North Vietnam or Communist Cuba jets and tanks to USA.

This topic about giving a specific nation their very own tech tree, at least from my perspective is quite controversial (not the right word to say), for some kind, it’s good to add some kind of mixed tech tree but for others people will see this as some kind of favoritism for the countries featured in, I think that’s why Gaijin barely work on full separated tech trees.
