I have finally decide to start grinding US navy, I am a naval AB and RB player. I was just wondering which ship I should use?
For what?
For grind/farm - premium destroyers.
For fun - any one.
Everything, of course. I just want a ship that great at doing almost at everything.

Honestly, go for a premium when theres discounts or one you get a good discount for and that has very good modifiers (moffett comes to mind)
Though, i was surprised that its now at 5.3 so the us veterans maybe can clarify if it can still be used in naval ec as free spawn (no sp cost) should you consider playing naval ec later. If you do and the moffet costs sp to spawn there, id maybe go for the frank knox instead which probably has similar RP and SL modifiers (you can check on their statcards)
Apart from that and if you want higher br premiums afaik the us cruisers and heavy cruisers are all very strong (compared to other nations cruisers), but as all cruisers do they struggle when uptiered and facing battleships. Similarly the US destroyers are also quite strong due to good shell selection (lots of them have SAP afaik) and lots of them have anti fragmentation armor for their superstructures making them quite hard to deal with in other nations destroyers of which quite a lot only fire he. But im not that versed in that area and i didnt grind US yet.
Because of how naval works this doesn’t really exist. There is no ‘Main Battle Ship’, so to speak, despite Battleships existing. Each class of ship is a tool with its own purpose.
Of course in-game what this largely translates to is the uptiered ships are pickets and harassment vehicles and the downtiered ships are heavy frontliners; and which you are will almost always depend on if you’ve been uptiered or downtiered.
I am a F2P player unfortunately maybe in the future.

Which vehicle would you recommend to pick at ranks 3 and 4 to suffer the least in uptier?
Depends if you think Destroyer Facing Cruisers or Cruiser Facing Battleships is worse. Anything above 5.0 will see cruisers, anything about 6.0 will see battleships as a general rule (there are lower cruisers and lower battleships but they’re usually the less tanky ones)
I want a destroyer that can destroy a cruiser and a cruiser that can destroy a battleship.
Yeah that’s not happening consistently unless you’re cracked with torpedoes

I see the Charles F. Adams a lot, so that’s probably pretty decent. Based off of historical knowledge I’d also advocate for the Northampton if you don’t mind paper armor since it’s a ‘heavy’ (built as a light but the guns were too big so. Upclassed) cruiser at 5.7 (and thus has guns that might actually be able to scratch battleships)

Is the USS Porter and Somers great? I am skipping the light destoryer line for rank 3 as I heard that they are rubbish.
