Hi folks!
I see the J35J shall be added, with up to 6xRB24J (AIM-9J equivalent, similar to Flz Lwf LL 63/80) or 4x RB27 (HM-55 equivalent, Flz Lwf LL 79).
The Swiss Mirage IIIS C.70 still flies with only 2x Flz Lwf LL 63/75 (AIM-9E equivalent), which the type in the modelled modernisation stage actually never used as they were already replaced by Flz Lwf LL 63/90 (AIM-9P-4) and Flz Lwf LL 63/91 (AIM-9P-5), plus 2x Flz Lwf LL 79 (HM-55, RB27).
This seems a bit odd and unfair: Draken with more and more powerful missiles, yet at a similar BR as the Mirage, the Mirage using weapons already 2 iterations obsolete compared to what they ever used…
Yes, Mirage has a more powerful radar plus RWR/CMS, but the long lamented and in very clear detail reported improved armament would be very necessary, even it it would mean an increase in BR:
For example:
- Flz Lwf LL 63/80 (AIM-9P-3): BR 10.7 (however, already replaced by the time of the implemented modification)
- Flz Lwf LL 63/90 (AIM-9P-4): BR 11.0 (which would be realistic and was the normal armament)
- (Flz Lwf LL 63/91 (AIM-9P-4): realistic but not recomended because of balancing old airframe vs. modern missile)
Could this finally be revisited and adjusted?
