We need to talk about the Abram's Horizontal Turret Drive

To my understanding of the thread so far, someone brought up the Abrams hydraulic pump seemingly getting hit more often than his experience in others.

Which to my memory, is true, it’s an incorrectly modeled module which seemingly does affect Abrams more often than others. There’s a bug report that I thought was accepted, but maybe not, but I’m sure exists detailing why it’s I correctly modeled leading to the exact problems OP described.

Bringing up T series stuff is irrelevant and off topic. It’s essentially just crying in an Abrams thread. Which is where my sarcasm came from.

This is not even touching on the fact that the autoloader module was a simultaneous buff and nerf it was a net neutral addition. It added armor and essentially a spall liner to the carousel that often enough saves it from detonating. Whereas the hydraulic module is only a nerf. This is neither here nor there though, because it’s just off topic it’s an Abrams problem thread. I know US people do it too in Russian threads and it Should be addressed as such as well(I’m guilty of this as well sometimes).

Well, that explains so much.

I’d noticed the horizontal drive getting knocked out with alarming regularity on the abrams.

Seems like the kind of thing that should be fixed fairly urgently.

Buddy the topic is about the “Abrams” having real issues, this has nothing to do with reload, reverse speed.

If you would like to complain about the pathetic russian transmission you can go ahead and create a topic but that wouldn’t change anything since that’s how it is in real life.

im not seeing the issue here. Challenger and abrams both have a major weakspot which exposes the turret ring to spall or the projectile itself

If you read the post, you would know that the OP was pointing out that the Abrams’ turret ring gets knocked basically wherever you hit it because of the hydraulic pump, not just when you hit the turret ring.

look at where the pump is, its gonna eat a load of spall from a hull hit. Im not seeing the issue with components being knocked out when hit

The issue is that irl knocking out the pump would not knock out the drive, at least if what was presented in the bug report is true.

it should only limit to slower manual traverse but gaijin seems incapable of such things

Iirc, the big pump thing in game is a reservoir/backup so it wouldn’t even make it go into manual drive

The pump irl is at the engine. What’s modelled ingame is the backup.

Gajin aint fixing for another year for sure
Same with the turret ring and the entire fp of the abrams missing armor
Also the fp of the m1/m1a1/imp1/hc/aim have completely different material use and layout from the a2/sep but gajin obviously doesnt believe it
They making bank from the clickbait and kvt they aint stopping

God this is annoying.

The slightest tap, horizontal drive out.

still better than a one tap, tank is dead.

I’d rather die honestly than suffer from being in this weak tank called the Abrams.

70% of shots are 1-shot
20% of shots take out engine and horzi drive simultanouesly
10% don’t instantly take Abrams out

Well, the same goes for other tanks.

Except it doesn’t. Excluding Britain and Israel, every other nation’s toptier doesn’t get 1-shot more than 25% of the time.

what other nations?

Russia (T-80, T-72, and T-90)

Italy, Germany, Sweden, France (Leopard 2)

China (ZTZ)

Japan (Type 10 and TKX)
