Should’ve honestly been one vehicle plus a lot of cool bonuses, cosmetics, etc from the start.

I could agree Alvis. I have done BP on the strength of one vehicle I really wanted.
You are “doing” BP every time you play whether you are intending to or not, whether you takes the “Rewards” or not - so no real idea what people are talking about here.
For less money, sure!
No, you are not “doing” the BP unless you do the challenges as they are the main way of ranking up in the BP

BP is not free,it’d a pretty simple concept
That is very myopic of you - in fact you are “doing” teh challenges as well much of the time.
You don’t have to pay anything for it - so it is free if you choose to take that route.
Anything else is lying to yourself.
Less money? 1250GE is already less money in SL and booster rewards alone, let alone the cosmetics and a vehicle.
Also challenges are what get you to level 150, daily tasks alone can get you to finish the battlepass.
