Hi, I have a question that would require some help regarding the Su-25T aircraft!
I saw this on the WT wiki, and currently it’s not so in-game. I tried reporting it as a bug using the official War Thunder wiki as a source, but that didn’t work; because they don’t accept which I guess is fair enough.
Here’s what the WT wiki says about it:
“The GSh-30-02 cannon was mounted on a special hydraulic hinge allowing it to depress up to 30 degrees downwards for ground strafing runs.” [1]
It does make me genuinely think though, was it actually mounted on a hydraulic hinge like the wiki page claims? Thus allowing it to depress down 30° degrees for increased efficiency at strafing ground targets with said gun. This could be a pretty cool feature to have, even if it arguably wouldn’t help that much. I mean, to my inexperienced eyes it’s not entirely impossible just by eye-balling how the gun is mounted on the in-game model; but I really am not sure… (Picture below from in-game model!)
I tried doing some limited research, but I don’t have the time to continue this further at the moment so I thought I’d just leave this as a thread on the forum to see if anyone else here knows something about this. It’s features like this in my opinion that make this game stand-out, and if it really is the case; we should push for it to be added, that’s all.
But one final thing, here’s a quote from a site I read some info from so far; and it seems to say it was mounted on the built-in “NPPU-8M” cannon mount.
“The aircraft’s cannon armament consists of one built-in fixed cannon mount NPPU-8M with a GSh-2-30 30mm aircraft cannon with 200 rounds of ammunition.” [2]
If anyone has further info on the specific cannon mount and the mounting of the cannon in general, please let me know.
