I’ve had some fun with Entente, even when it was an obvious defeat. The Chamond is fun to use, and it looks pretty cool. The bomber is also nice (both unlocked permanently :D)
But yeah, I mostly Germany. Not because Germany is OP, but because the Fokker D.VII is one of my favourite WW1 planes, and I love the silly boxy look of the A7V.
I refuse to play thd Garfield, on either side. Not my kind of vehicle.
Pretty much was unplayable, since it got stuck on even the slightest offroad slopes on the south side. The 20 km/h speed limit was fine, but it had so bad traction and torque that it could barely leave the spawn area. I tried it once in its original state, and was shot before I could trudge into a firing position - even the Mk V was better then, and could net a decent score just by soaking shells when angled.
The “buffs” to the Chamond kind of ruined it. The extra pen is useless, the higher shell velocity makes it harder to lob shells so you have to get exposed to shoot and the removal of the tracer makes it harder to aim long shots. With that and the buffs to the Garfield it’s funny the game was made even more unbalanced as time went on.
I could unlock all vehicle mods after just the first game. A7 is quite good. Shot down a I-16, you have a plethora of MGs for AA. Also some ground targets, several BT-7, T-26 and such. The shell is good, one hit and they were gone. Survived several shots and air attacks (no bombs). Speed is managable, was enough for a cap.
Just wounder why its top speed is 12km/h, wiki states 16 km/h top.
Garford as well. 5 kills in RB. The tankiness works same way, won’t fuse most shells, just autocannon vehicles are deadly. I didn’t survive an AA vehicle, for these you have no defense. But still, the shell even nukes these soviet T-35 heavy tanks (1.3). Killed two of them.
They might be meme vehicles, but they’re far from the worst. Mobility sucks, but their guns can actually destroy enemies (even if you have to aim for weakspots or flank), they reload quick and they can often take a lot of punishment. The old French reserves still hold the crown of awfulness.
I have what I assume will be an unpopular opinion. The Garford Beute (not the regular Garford) is better than the A7V in the event(not in regular battles). Firstly, and most obviously, its mobility is over twice as good as the A7V. Secondly, its HE rounds are amazing against the Entante vehicles and one shot them consistently. It also has a decent 4 second reload and a low velocity that allows for droop shotting people. The thing that nobody talks about with this vehicle is how difficult it is to one shot it with anything other than HE (even HE takes 2-3 hits sometimes). After the St. Chamond buffs, its AP head is powerful enough to go through and hit the ammo that is farther back in the A7V which consistently one taps it. Since most people use the St Chamond for the Entante, I find that the A7V is more likely to get one tapped than the Garford Beute.
So in summary from my own personal observations, the Garford Beute is faster, more survivable, and has a lower velocity gun that you can droop shot things from behind cover with and one shot pretty consistently. I think a counter claim that someone might bring up is that the beute’s gun is facing backwards. I don’t think the backwards gun is much of a detriment if played correctly. Just sit behind a ridge and shoot people repositioning when needed and it will do great.
It is funny how many people demonstrate that they have a learning disability when i see countless threads complaining about the A7V over and over and over when it is objectively the easiest tank to kill with 3 gigantic ammoracks right at the front for the saint chamond to immediate nuke on sight, but hey cry enough and people will gloss over skill issue.
Exactly. Only reason I will play today is to get the HP12. That’s the only one I really wanted (Mark V & St both nice to get though), so obviously it will be the last one I get. Immediately gave up on the event every day the moment I got the ‘star.’ Just too dire for words. Battle of Atlantic event, OTOH, I played both sides well beyond the daily requirement because it was fun and there were plenty of options to try out; it had that, ‘just one more go’ factor any good game has. This event doesn’t.
