War Thunder: The Great War!

I agree the vibe was better. However the Garfield meta is just weird and off-topic.
Two sides throwing milk trucks instead of tanks because it’s better doesn’t make any sense

Shoot where you can when aiming with commander sights cuz otherwise you’re dead before even taking the range

Carrying less ammo was juicy, i think
You will be fine to tank more than one shot unless the enemy Chamond is sharpshooter enough to wreck your ammo rack.
(You will get OHK anyway if they know your ammo rack location.)

But yeah, after some buffs, Chamond’s gun can finally somewhat stoppable those A7V.

Day 1 experience was awful fr.
I saw first, I fires first. it dings
They shoot back, I OHK by 120g APHE because of losing 7 crew on front.

As long as Gaijin is dumb enough to believe ‘early Chamond’ was enough to deal with ‘early A7V’

Armored-milk-truck meta was guaranteed to happen. :/

Maybe better for balance, but really annoying and ridiculous.
I dislikes this meta too.

Dear gaijin, this event is horrible.

German toilet tank that was built in few numbers is constantly steamrolling almost every battle.
Mark IV/V have horrible steering in fact toilet tank for some reason moves better (where it should not move at all because steel plate in front is clipping thru the ground).
Was there even any research done about ammunition ? Because toilet tank have more pen and more armor than mark V and this is not a good balance…
Generally the balance is horrible.

The waiting times show how bad is balance, there are 100s of people waiting to play Germany and no one to play allies (the waiting time is 5-10 minutes at any time), and it another problem because if I want all rewards, I need to waste 10-30min to get a chance to play.

I am not trying to insult anyone because probably someone worked hours to make it, but it is RAW, it needs to go back to development.
Build it, test it, balance it and only then release for public, this event is embarrassment for this game, which is sad as ww1 topic is very interesting.

I think fixing the front suspension of the Chamond would make it way better. Simple change but quite effective so you can actually use the gun

At least 2 indeed. Doesn’t feel like more than 2 and a half hours were spent in there.
The models are great, except for the Chamond and its collapsed suspension but that’s quite it

Well number of developers does not mean automatically quality (look at 3xA games Today), but if… for example: John Carmack would work on it, you would probably not complain ;)

They should probably make Garland movement rate through mud much worse and remove the roads between the two frontlines. Especially the flanking road on the west. You can drive there with full speed and if the enemy team doesnt spot you, you’re behind their lines. Shot everyone from behind and keep their spawn in check.

Remove the roads, make these thin wheels sink into mud much more and reduce top speed in mud. This way Garland meta might end, cause you can just use it to move along you own frontline as fire support. No speedflanking anymore. The muddy no mans land with all the obstacles should be just for tracked vehicles.

Why is nobody spawning zeppelins and planes anymore?

I want to actually fly these fighters while I can and end up just doing nothing without anyone to fight most matches.

Well that’s why. Zeppelins are just tragets

I saw some Garfield throws 76mm HE for one-tapping Zeppelin yesterday

Maybe that is why.

Tbh Zeppelins should be somewhat more difficult to take down.
As far as I’ve read, gas bags were too big to effectively deflate in any reasonable amount of time unless an absurd amount of bullets were dumped into them, and usually didn’t even catch fire because there was pretty much no oxygen within them.

What the British had to do to take them down was employing a mix of explosive and incendiary rounds, so that the former opened up the bags to fill the outer shell of the airship with hydrogen (mixed with the already present oxygen) that the latter would then set alight.

Even then, pilots were required to dump whole mags into one or two bags to release enough hydrogen to actually burn the airship down, and I think that, currently, the Zeppelins are a bit too fragile at the moment compared to real life.

I carry 1/2 or less of the max ammo in all vehicles - in hte St Chamond the big rack on the right and one in the middle r empty

I feel part of that is due to the arcade+++ boost we get.

Even without instructor, you can basically prop hang your way to victory without major consequences. Do the same kind of edge-of-stall in a spitfire in realistic proper and you depart flight, and probably life

The St Chamond suspension is accurately modelled as complete carp!

The gun had -10 to +11 degrees elevation range, and 2 (yes TWO) deg traverse either side of centre.

However if could be further improved - later tanks had an addition 8.5mm “spaced” armour on the front. These tanks also had a sloping roof rather than the flat one - you can see the spaced armour around the gun on the 1 surviving model.

And the sloping roof is obvious in some photos - eg

You have to put yourself on a reverses slope to hit Zeppelins - but yeah, I’ve got a couple of such kills :)

Easy kills - probably most of mine last night!!

Things still going well

Also not quite sure how there is glow from the sun here

But no sun anywhere

Nah the suspension is too soft, yes the tank leaned a bit due to its design but not that much. It’s even obvious in the picture you provided
