War Thunder Not Launching After Update 2.43.0.86 on macOS

I’m encountering an issue with War Thunder after updating to version 2.43.0.86 on macOS. The launcher works fine, but when I click “Play,” the game appears to start (icon appears in the dock), but nothing happens after that. The game doesn’t load, and it shows as “Not Responding” in the Force Quit menu.

A few hours before this issue started, I updated my macOS to version Sequoia 15.3. This makes me suspect that the problem might be related to an incompatibility between the latest macOS version and the game.

Steps I’ve already tried to resolve the issue:

  1. Reinstalled the game completely (deleted the game and re-downloaded it).
  2. Checked macOS settings for any compatibility issues.
  3. Tried running the game in lower resolution mode through macOS settings.
  4. Looked for an option to change the rendering engine in the launcher (just “Auto” or “Metal”).
  5. Verified that other applications and games are working fine after the macOS update.

Here are my system specs:

  • Mac Model: iMac Pro (2017)
  • Processor: 3.2 GHz 8-Core Intel Xeon W
  • Graphics: Radeon Pro Vega 56 8GB
  • RAM: 32 GB 2666 MHz DDR4
  • macOS Version: Sequoia 15.3

Is anyone else facing a similar issue on macOS? Are there any known fixes or workarounds for this problem?

I would appreciate any help or advice!

Thanks.

Good news – the game is now working!

After some trial and error, I launched Battle.net and played StarCraft 2 for a while. Surprisingly, after running StarCraft 2, War Thunder started working without any issues.

It seems like the problem might have been related to some kind of system or GPU initialization after the macOS update (Sequoia 15.3), which War Thunder didn’t handle, but another game did? Now everything runs perfectly fine.

Hopefully, this odd solution helps someone else facing a similar issue.
