Leviathans is a pretty huge update in mechanics and overall additions, so maybe thats just what comes with it but still, all that time without a missile fix was horrible

People will undoubtedly disagree but warthunder is all ready dead and died in roughly 2017. WT died when Gaijin started to develop the game in a direction that they had previously stated they would not do. What I mean is that due to the nature of live service games that rely on continuous updates with new content, the game will eventually evolve past it’s originally intended design. If Gaijin had stuck to their original design then they would have ran out of new content to add many years ago. 2017 is when “modern” vehicles became a new frontier for WT as before that it was only a WW2 game (with some exceptions for balance) You could even make the argument that WT died in 2014 when ground-forces were added as before it was only an aviation game.
It is not about the game as a whole being dead but the concept has been reinvented many times over that the game “Warthunder” that many of us started playing is no longer. Just like Overwatch was replaced by Overwatch 2 or CS GO was replaced(ish) with CS2. For me personally Warthunder is no longer Warthunder.
You can still play “old top tier tanks”, you can play tanks you want.

From the 2012 it was “spanish civil war to korean war” game and then newer and newer vehicles came in.

I think the devs have only made mistakes in the last 8 or 9 years. They don’t need to release 20 new vehicles (8 of them premium) with every update. If they simply focused on adding 10 well-made vehicles and then focused mainly on fixing bugs and making new maps that were well-made, things would improve a lot. Simply by improving the impact programming and damage model for both planes and tanks, rebalancing the Br after fixing damage and penetration models, and creating much larger and better-made maps, you’ll have a much better, more entertaining, and less frustrating game.
Yeah, I don’t know about the rest of you, but if Gaijin just sat everyone down and was like “Ok, so for the next couple of years, we’re putting a pause on new vehicles/weapons/etc to go back through and do major bug-squashing”, I would not mind a bit.
Just a couple years dedicated to completely revamping, refactoring, and investigating anything and everything wonky, and maybe re-thinking backend things to build a better backbone for the future.
Exactly. And it’s not necessary to have a couple of years, it’s simply that they slow down the release of so many vehicles and focus on one thing in each update every 4 or 5 months. For example, fixing the damage model, well, reviewing all the bullet models in the game, giving it damage that is minimally realistic and correcting the absurd bugs of when you penetrate and all the spalling is absorbed by a crew member or a module like sights, apart from adjusting the overpressure on bullets with a lot of explosives (hello HESH). Once all that is done, the update is released, and to make the update a little more attractive, they can add one or two maps, much larger and well done, apart from improving the randomness of the maps, which there are times when you play the same map three times in a row.
In another update, the penetration calculator could be improved and bullet models could be better investigated. The M82 and especially the 90mm T33 should easily penetrate a Panther at between 400 and 900 meters. It’s also impossible for the 3BM8 and 3BM25 100mm to have similar penetration.
We could go on for quite a while listing the bugs and possible solutions, the shame is that it seems Gaijin isn’t very interested in making such profound changes to the game.
Yeah, all these little stats don’t tell you how many people actually play, just how many people log in. Many people log in to keep their daily streak going, other do it to collect the daily boosters and then use them every 2-3 days to play few matches. I used to do it as well. Now, if I’m doing the BP, I have yet another reason to login daily to get the log in bonus. If you are doing a BP, you might as well do the event that is running along with it and we all know that these events are running almost non-stop as well. Looks like gaijin is trying really hard to pad their daily stats. How about the extra goodies that you get, if you use a link from a YouTuber to “sign up for the game”?
With all this extra crap running non-stop, I feel really tethered to the game… more like chained. I’m forced to do things daily just to keep up. You miss few days of logins, you multi-year login streak gets reset to a big, fat ZERO. No way to pause it for holidays or vacations. If you take a break and stop thinking what things you have to do in WT daily, you would come back refreshed and recharged. At this point I dread thinking I have to do yet another set of these repetitive daily BP tasks.
Last 4 months are horrendous in Naval. In May I simply refused to purchase any more premium time that was running out. Nerfed and broken aiming… and nerfed income as a result. With all the changes, the tasks are not adjusted, so they are even more grindy than before (read: more forced time in game). Less and less kills while constantly suffering from losing streaks and stupid 1-sided matches. Just look all across the entire game, even Assault. They jacked up the entire game, resulting in yet another income and research nerf. Why would I pay premium for that? At this point I’m just finishing up the Naval event and do the bare minimum for the BP. Played Air yesterday and found that daily BP tasks are much easier to do there. Thanks for killing all the incentives to play Naval there, gaijin.
