There is definitely a focus on modern stuff, and as someone who’s only here for WWII-and-earlier I’d of course love to see more from that era. But we do still tend to get at least a few with each patch, and I’d rather be happy about what we do get. I’m definitely looking forward to France Coastal. :)
I’m entirely happy with event rewards being sister ships and such. Time-locked content is awful in any game, but since we’re stuck having it, “copy-pastes” are the least-bad option. I’d much rather see unique ships in the tech tree or as permanent premiums.
I really hope that when it does fizzle out they keep some things running like Aces of Thunder will be doing. I love air rb and no game really comes close to the feeling this one gives and I would hate to see it go.
I joined on May 30th, 2017 the last golden era of WT. Pretty much before everything transitioned to what it is now…I miss those times. Wonder how much of a pain it was for BR changes from back then though. Given it wasn’t built around 1.0 that or the dot was very small can’t entirely tell.
Some of us love the modern war machines of Top Tier, sure; but there are many other players who stick exclusively to WW2 BRs or others because they simply prefer the machines of those historical time periods.
Progressing to top tier is only the goal of those of us who enjoy modern machines; it’s not the game’s endgame.
Yet nobody recognizes era or the WW2 era and nobody including yourself does anything to protect it.Top tier is dying and it seems like WW2 1-6 BR is what keeps this game going but you would never guess reading this forum.
I just prefer modern machines and therefore find top tier more enjoyable.
I have made countless commentary, both on Reddit and the Forums, about how WW2 era is ruined by being forced to face Cold War munitions and vehicles; but every time I bring this up and suggest that decompression is needed for balance, I am shat on by everyone claiming that “I just have a skill issue” and that “dates don’t matter”, putting extreme and incredibly specific examples of exceptions to prove that midwar tanks facing HEATFS is “fine and balanced”, so… eh. What else do you want me to do, when not just Gaijin but even the community denies there’s a balance issue and refuses to address it as such?
Not true, considering Top Tier vehicles (to grind the way to Top Tier) are Gaijin’s most profitable source of revenue. The playercount increases more and more the more modern and more advanced vehicles come to the game.
Once Gaijin starts running out of vehicles, I think that mechanics and QoL updates will be prioritized, along with new ideas for gamemodes, etc.
Also, they still have a wide range of gamemodes that can bring in a large playerbase, but a portion of those are currently being ignored. If they run out of content, you’ll know for certain those will be revived for the sake of getting a larger playerbase.
Warthunder makes money hand over fist if steam revenue rankings are any indicator. And i know most ppl dont even use steam to buy for obvious reasons.
Truth is if any game will make it to 20 year anniversary in a not dead state its either going to be this WoW.
There just isnt a feasible path for any game dev to come into the space WT occupies and actually put up a game that would conpete DAY 1 against this. And no one is going to give a new game the time of day if its severly lacking, look at GHPC for example.
