War Thunder "Hornet's Sting" - Changelog

All the time, alt-tab cuts my fps by a lots.

Yeah used to be able to use ray tracing on ultra prior to the update and get around 90-100fps still, now enabling it at all on any settings level crashes the game out randomly

Alt-tab has been broken for months now. Either cuts your FPS or outright freezes the game. Annoying as hell. Loads of bug reports about it but nothing has come of any of them yet.

I still want to know what changed Gaijin’s mind about the R-77-1 getting added when they said they weren’t planning on implementing it since the newer missile didn’t offer much improvment over the existing R-77. Because that was the same exact reasoning why they denied the M829A3 round to the Abrams.

Let’s not forget that after alt-tab often half of the keyboard does not work. This has been going on for several years.

Having tested out the new Naval AB aiming system for a good bit in various BRs, here are some thoughts:
I’m much less upset about the naval aiming (save for how ridiculously easy it is now to get ammoracked by experienced players) than the changes to the AI anti-air accuracy. It was pretty annoying already before, with the AI engaging their main calibre guns on air targets at ridiculous distances, but it was usually possible to do at least one successful bombing run before dying. Now I consistently die up to 5km away from the ships without ever getting to do anything, often dying to the first hit.
Due to the huge buff to AAA and secondary battery accuracy vs naval targets boats are also basically unable to engage anything stronger than reserve DDs with next to no AI gunners. They went from uselessly spraying all over the screen to center mass aimbot mode in one go.
It is also a major tactical loss that we can no longer give priority targets to our weapon groups, leaving only the targeting toggle as a tool for prioritising.
I don’t think Naval AB is quite unplayable, and the new aiming definitely helps lower fire rate/muzzle velocity weapons to be more competitive (which I welcome, especially for low rank boats), but all in all it feels quite egregious, especially the AI gunners. On many maps you will start receiving hits even before your spawn protection has worn off.

What is that ?

Just a bug
Restart the game and it should be fixed

Will voting affect game changes? And they don’t care about our demands.

No. It will just make us feel better. They couldn’t care less what we think. I’m voting with my wallet and by not playing that game mode.

is anyone having a sound bug? like u can’t hear other players gun/engine sound?

That happens because of the anti-cheat

Do everyone have false thermal targets work normally? During the evening, rockets without interference protection flew in three times already, while I threw a pack of heat traps. Is this a bug or these handicrafts again broke something ???

You sure? Because I’m on linux and it happens every game, and I dont think gaijin uses Easy Anti Cheat on the linux native clients, unless anyone can correct me.

they don’t use it at all anymore for War Thunder

they use BattlEye now

but the audio definetly has been jank since the update

Ah I see, ty for the info, so thats why the Windows Client didnt work through proton anymore, makes sense

different layer of anticheat, basically the game does not render (visuals, sounds etc) enemy ground vehicles unless the in game spotting system (e.g. the red labels in ARB or AGB) thinks you should, this is almost entirely based on the “Keen Vision” crew skill, the only exception is if you are in aircraft or the enemy has just fired/is firing. It works most of the time, but there’s some weirdness on occasion.
TL:DR, Warthunder has a WoT style rendering system, dump points into keen vision.

They use the same anti-cheat, because it’s on the game not the PC.

Agreed. I came here to say pretty much the same thing. I have said as much many times in the Steam forums, but it is pretty obvious no devs read the Steam forums.

AA in naval is ridiculous. Daily tasks involving planes are impossible.

Losing all three battleships to ammo explosions within 3 minutes did make me rage quit for the day, but the only real problem I have with the new aiming is how it eliminates the “protection” speed and maneuverability once gave you. Now its really easy or even the newest noob to one shot your V990 in its spawn while he’s in a Litchfield at his spawn. Had I known they were going to eliminate the benefits of speed, I would not have spent the real world money I did on some boats and ships. Lesson learned.
