I notice you are using the BETA Nvidia driver version 580.65.06, Could you please install the latest stable Nvidia driver version 580.82.09 and see if the crash continues?
Thank you for your response.
I found the version you suggested on software manager and am installing it now.
I will try playing war thunder with this driver for the next few days and reply with the result.
Ive got a pretty similar situation after the latest update. Antoher guy on the Steam Forum has expressed the same issue, its all the Same for me. Exept its most of the times earlier in the game (1-5min)
Ok, I am sorry that was my mistake. I saw the numbers wrong.
My next problem is, the driver version that you mentioned is not available in OS Driver manager, the 580.65.06 version is the latest one I can safely get.
But I took one step further to download .run file for 580.82.09 and tried installing it after turning off my display manager and in TTY.
The Nvidia driver installer prompted me to choose MIT/GPL or Nvidia proprietary kernel, I chose MIT/GPL kernel and pressed enter.
all of my screen went blank and nothing else happened, so I foreced reboot and just went back to 580.65.06 version.
and a few weeks ago, I also tried going back to 570 version, the same thing happened.
Sorry for the lack of Infos. Im on WIndows 11 24H2 with the latest 581.29 Driver. I just did a complete GPU driver reinstall with the Issue persisting.
I have run war thunder on steam and standalone client and I am currently using the client version of it as I experienced much more frequent freeze in the beginning of the game on steam version.
on the client, I only get occasional GPU usage spikes during matches which very briefly freeze the screen, thus do not so heavily affect the game.
steam version is terrible.
I am not sure whether this helps, but
I have this sneaking suspicion that the complete freeze happens when canons are being fired. it just happened to me again when I aimed at my opponent and fired.
and my memory suggests that the freeze most often occurs after I’ve fired a shot.
Right, Well if your not getting any crashes any more then there is no need to report them. If you start getting any crashes again please do submit a bug report however.
I have the same issue, freezing the game in the middle of the match. Or even in my hangar, when I am creating a new layout for my bomber’s bombs.
However, in my opinion Gaijin devs are too lazy to even react to this problem due to the low linux player count.
We should capture the hole War Thunder community, and abuse the devs as much as we can! Be strong linux players!!!
