Hey there. My War Thunder client frequently crashes in the first or second game, rarely even in the garage. I dont even get a Minidump file or any crash report since it switches to a black screen. The sound changes into a short Buzz. After this, the system Automatically reboots.
Afer rebooting, I just get a Kernel 41 Error in the event viewer.
This only happens with war thunder and not any other (partly higher hardware-demanding) games.
So far I have tried:
Reinstalling Windows, Drivers, Game, Easy Anti Cheat
Checking cables on the Power Supply unit
Checking the Drives
Checking for temperature issues, found none
Switching to a new Power Supply Unit and CPU (it was about time anyways)
Benchmarking CPU, RAM, GPU (no reports)
Various windows commands to verify integrity of Windows Files
Repairing game files with steam and WT-Launcher
My Specs:
Motherboard: MSI B450A Pro Max
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600x
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 5700
RAM: G Skill Aegis 16 GB 3200MHZ split on 2 Units
PSU: BeQuiet Pro 12 M 550W
I am out of ideas. Any help is appreciated, thanks.
can you try reseating the RAM?
Your MOBO will have a preference with what slots, typically its 1-3 or 2-4.
You can also try each RAM stick separately, to see if that would be the issue.
When did this start happening? Windows 1124H2 was released within the week. If it was not happening before, and you updated, you can try reverting the update and testing.
Can you also say what your storage situation is looking like?
HDD, SSD, M.2?
How is the space on the drive where WT is installed?
Hey :)
thats a great idea with the single RAM stick, I will try that (putting it into A2).
I have my RAM in A2 and B2, as recommended for the MOBO i think.
I will try them in A1 B1.
I play video games every 4 weeks for like 3 to 4 days in a row. Last time I played the prolbem started, so it was around 15th to 18th November. But I still played on Windows 10 back then (did the upgrade to 11 in hope something will get fixed).
I have two SSDs, one is 1 TB, the other 512 GB.
Windows is on the bigger one right now (I switched that for testing as well). War thunder on the smaller one.
Both have >50 % of space left.
I will reinstall War Thunder on the bigger one. Maybe it will make a difference.
No other issues with the drive WT is on? 50% seems fine, shouldn’t cause any issues.
Could try running chkdsk to make sure there’s no errors with it.
maybe use cmd as admin and run
{ dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth // and then sfc /scannow // then reboot }
But since you’ve already reinstalled and upgraded to 11, it might not do anything.
Can you try downloading like Cinemax or another benchmarking software, it could be linked to your GPU, would need to see some data on it.
How old is the system? The PSU could be faulty as when it tries to draw power to play WT, it crashes.
It could have something to do with ray tracing, as when you load into the game it crashes.
Have you checked your graphics settings, you can try setting them to minimum or vice-versa to test.
To confirm, you are using AMD Adrenaline to install GPU drivers right, or another service like DDU?
If you go to Windows → Updates → Optional → check to see if you have random drivers there.
So first of all I tried everything possible with the RAM:
A1 B1 are not the optimized slots, MOBO gave me the message when I booted up after a crash
I tested both RAM sticks by themselves in A2, game crashed both times
To your new suggestions:
I ran chkdsk today already, found something, I did the repairs immediatly on the next boot (didnt help unfortunately)
I benchmarked my GPU today with ForMark, worked fine for 10 minutes, then i stopped the test, no errors.
System is 4 years old. PSU is new, I installed it yesterday. I installed the new CPU yesterday also.
4 years old is: MOBO, RAM, GPU
I can try low graphic settings and see what happens.
Yes, I use AMD Adrenaline for my GPU drivers.
