They are but the most famous action came from 9Ms.
And? That by itself doesnt mean much, positioning, luck and timing place a huge role in this kind of actions. Also iirc on the footage form the shot down of the su 30 they did not used countermeasures so it is pretty much irrelevant as an example. At least on the video of the mi8 they were actively deploying countermeasures.

And a Su-30 has a MAWS system and superior counter measure suite it is also moving faster a harder target to intercept.
Iirc most su 30s doesnt even have MAWS so your point is also irrelevant, and again in the video of the shoot down there is no countermeasures in sight, so this doesnt tell anything about the irccm. This would be like claiming that the r27t of all things have a better irccm because they have manage to damage an f15 which it has a far superior defensive suit but it was just deploying chaff …
I think you have a fundamental misconception about tracking suspension…
I take the example of the 9L because it has the same FOV (before and after launch) as the 9M.
And tracking suspension only activates when the flare is inside the FoV of the missile. IE, it only activates for the 9M in situations where the 9L would be flared either way. Even if tracking suspension were to work only 1% of the time (it’s way better than that even if not perfect), that would still make the 9M better.
In game, the 9M is obviously better than the 9L (no matter how much you complain about it, that is true). Thus, adding tracking suspension to any missile ends up as a net positive (no matter how small it is).
This is literally proven by how strong IRCCM are on Manpads and IRIS-T right now.
If game wasn’t buggy, i would agree with this. But 9M doesn’t activate IRCCM on anything that isn’t a flare, so, funnily enough, it is often flared easier than 9L if enemy decides to randomly shoot a missile or fire a rocket salvo if it’s an attacker. If this would be tweaked - 9M would instantly become much better than 9L

su30 does not have maws and they dont have any CMs against IR missiles other than flares.
He might be talking about the Japanese one that gets maws

Ok, what’s the deal with the R73? I fire it from behind at an afterburning F15 and they manage to flare it instantly. I get an R73 shot at me from behind in my F14 and no matter if I drop afterburner and dump flares, it always tracks. I can launch the r73 from 2km and it gets flared, the enemy can launch at 3km and it stays on me.

Well you are flying an F-14 which is one of the hottest platforms if in not mistaken
Also the R-73 is kinda slow to accelerate making its IRCCM less effective compared to like the magic 2

Funny thing is that F-15 is actually pretty horrible when it comes to flaring gatewidth IRCCM due to the dispenser placement
